I just received this email from PSN.com. Interesting....
We’re pleased to extend this opportunity to order a PS5™ console!

Your order instructions:

Starting from 12:00 PT on September 14 click the “Shop now” button below to enter the site.
• You will need to log in using the email address and password associated with your PSN ID.
• You may add additional items to your PS5™ console order.
• Don’t forget those extra DualSense™ wireless controllers or PS5™ games!

Things to keep in mind:

• Have your credit card details ready.
• This URL is unique to you and not meant to be shared with anyone else.
• If the URL is accessed before the start time, or the link is accessed on multiple devices, you may be locked out of the order system.
Is there a queue to sign up for? I thought I remember there being one, but I cannot remember.

PS Direct does a private sale for invites like the one you got, so you log in and order one practically guaranteed. Mine shipped Fedex from XPS Logistics and arrived in a few days.

Then they do a public drop a few hours later with a 30 minute waiting room which will shuffle everyone in a random order. After a few minutes it gives a more accurate estimated wait time and if it's less than 15 minutes you have a shot at getting one before they sell out.

the private invites are only good for 15-45 mins, click it exactly at 12pm PT / 3pm EDT so you get it. If you wait too long the private invite is worthless

don't click it too often too early or from a different IP or something either, they track it and it goes invalid if you click it too many times, from a VPN, etc

it ships really quickly and you'll get the ps5 in 3-6 days

I've been running the beta firmware for 3 weeks, its fine but still doesn't let you organize folders of games. Still just the latest 6-8 you have run on the dashboard, which is a SHIT interface. At least it cleanly seperates PS4 and PS5 versions of games now, so its way more obvious when you are running the "wrong" version.

got the $170 1TB SSD from best buy yesterday and installed it last night, pretty easy took about 15 mins and running great. Wish there was a way to tell temps inside your PS5, but I did use a third party heatsink on it. Surprisingly the inside of the PS5 was fairly dust free, its been on every day for almost a year now and I expected to have to blow out more dust bunnies.

Cool, ill set an alarm today to check in. Last question(s), I dont think I have purchased a CD game in forever and mostly download and buy games on my PS4. I assume the digital version of the PS5 will be fine? Also, does anyone know if the Scuf Impact controller will work on a PS5? I think I read they only work on a PS5 if you are playing a PS4 game?

So does "TV Speaker Support" for 3D Audio also support receivers? You know, like 95% of us have ours set up?

Also spronk spronk if I wanted to cheat and not do the research, which M.2 did you buy from Best Buy and what type of heat sink?

i dunno about scuf, they may have a PS5 version by now. but yeah ps4 controllers dont work on PS5 games, only ps4 games. I think kronos may have a compatibility dongle that lets you use any controller in PS5 mode but i dunno. The haptics shit with PS5 dual sense controllers is pretty neat, especially with games that use it. Definitely play Astro Bot (comes as the pack in game with every PS5) to be amazed by it

ut, i bought the WD SN850, its the one Mark Cerny recommended. $180 at amazon at best buy for 1TB, $340 for 2TB

Amazon product ASIN B08KFS6THFwww.amazon.com/WD_Black-SN850-Internal-Gaming-Solid/dp/B08KFS6THF/

this is the heatsink i bought, pretty much any of them will work just fine as long as they are about this height. the port is huge
Amazon product ASIN B07KDDKDNNwww.amazon.com/heatsink-double-sided-matching-thermal-silicone/dp/B07KDDKDNN

be sure to follow the video i linked a few posts above, you gotta unscrew a riser inside the m.2 slot and "move" it to position #4 and use the screw there so there is an air gap, dont wanna short out your system

and yeah the latest firmware (out tomorrow) supports 3d audio for not just headsets but also speakers/HDMI, but honestly the whole thing feels like a bit of a scam. To me its sorta like ATMOS, where software is doing some extra work to fake stuff and I'm not really sure its that much better than 5.1. Whats really the difference between an audio director making footsteps come from the right "side" as you are facing in an FPS, vs 3d audio system software interpolating and mixing in real time to move sounds around a virtual space?

Thanks buddy. Both of these are arriving Friday to install.

Sure will be nice to have more than 8 games on my PS5 at any given time and not have to delete and redownload one when I need to patch Apex Legends and the horrid copy system that requires space of a full install for a 340 Meg patch.

Don't buy the fastest SSD, there isn't much of a performance differential between the most expensive compatible SSD and the least expensive compatible SSD.

Do you know if there’s a performance difference between PS5 and other SSDs for non PS5 exclusives? I’m asking because I’ve been playing no mans sky for a couple weeks on PS5 and the load times are pretty long. But I don’t have NMS on another system so I don’t have anything to compare it to.

I haven't played in a while but do you have the ps4 or ps5 version installed? Should be pretty easy to tell now with the new update.

The new update helped a ton. Clearly shows PS4 or PS5 now. It was a pita to see before.

I just checked and it’s definitely PS5. The load times aren’t the longest I’ve experienced in a game, but using the portals is definitely the longest loads I’ve had on the PS5.

The cheapest ones (Adata S70 Blade for example) are still rated at 7000+, so there's not really any reason to buy one of the weird ones that are only 5500-ish on the dot.
