The games installed to the hard drive on the PS4. The discs were only used to authenticate to run the game. The load times on the PS5 will be a massive improvement because they are using a SSD this time around. The SSD upgrade will rival the graphics upgrade this gen. That's how big of a change it will be.
PS5 Digital for me, haven't bought a physical copy in years. I think the console looks kind of slick, but not a huge fan of the vertical design since it won't fit in my TV stand, actually not sure where I'll set it up.
As far as the games, there's only 2 must have for me which were Spiderman and Horizon, a few others are maybe.
I would assume you can still place it flat, and the arch on the bottom honestly just lets more air flow around it I guess - but also means it's taking up an necessary amount of vertical space.
As far as I remember they've alway's "shown" the new console in a vertical mode(Sense ps3 at least) I'm sure there is gonna be a horizontal mode for it also..
It's not just the fact that it's on an SSD, I don't remember the exact details but there's something inside the PS5's low-level firmware that allows games to access data on the SSD even faster than it would on a PC. It also has something to do with making games a smaller size (they won't have to save assets on duplicate blocks). The read speeds they've published are absolutely ludicrous, so I want to see how that tech holds up.
Interesting. Hyped about hardware you won't use for games you aren't hyped aboutI guess I'm getting old - can't really find it in me to get "hype" about any of this. I'm more excited to spend $1k on a new video card that I'll hardly use in September (and never to it's maximum potential) than any of this shit.
Horizon looked pretty cool, Demons Souls I'll play again... The console looks ugly as fuck as well to me - I can see what aesthetic they were shooting for, but it doesn't really work as a console and comes off a bit cheesy looking. Will definitely pre-order if for no other reason than to possibly sell at launch. Trump bux are flowing through our great country and these jackalopes need something to spend it on.

Step 1 is buying hardware you don’t really need or want.
Step 2 is buying a bunch of games you have no intention of playing because they are on sale.
Step 3 is constantly complaining on the internet how big your backlog is.
Step 4 is still playing BFA
They didn't need to, the subtext was thereDid they really do this?
