There appeared to be a minor Doduo nest in my town, but it's a little out of the way so I never catch it with the scanner anymore since they raised the scan time. I'll leave the scanner on it for a while today and see what pops up.

Sounds like you're just salty that dumbasses who cheat obviously like you got banned while people who behaved subtly are still going at it. Also, let me clear up your sad misconception.


I can grind down any gym, and aside from that top vaporeon, that's not even my A-team. I started the army of ages when I realized I had more candy than I could ever use for powerups, so I just started evolving every high level eevee I found. I also have some counterpicks to suicide bomb any dragonite, vaporeon, gyarados, or exeggutor I run into.

Doesn't change the fact that someone with 3 snorlaxes over 2200 is almost certainly cheating. Keep crying though, it's quite entertaining.

New patch rolling out. They added a built in IV scanner. You can get your team leader to appraise your Pokemon and they'll give feedback based on the IV.

So I wonder if/when they plan to add TMs/HMs to the game. Could fix a high IV pokemon that got a sub-optimal tap/charge attack, squeeze a tiny bit more power out of an exeggutor by ditching headbutt for psycho cut, or stick blizzard on a jynx so it actually has a good ice-type charge move. Since HMs were generally mediocre moves that are needed to progress in the story, I thought it would be cool if they instead were effectively equipped on the trainer and allowed you to do completely unique things. All of these ideas are based on HMs having a 21 hour cooldown and being able to have any number of HMs equipped at once.

Cut - For the next half hour, gyms lose extra prestige when you attack them
Fly - You can attack/train at marked gyms regardless of distance. Limit of five designated gyms (which, obviously, must be visited in person first)
Alternate Fly - For the next hour, you can attack/train at any gym you can see.
Surf - For the next half hour, you will randomly attract water type pokemon
Alternate Surf - Instantly spawn a water type pokemon at your location
Strength - For the next half hour, gyms gain extra prestige when you train at them
Flash - For the next half hour, pokemon are easier to capture

There are a few more HMs but some of them already exist as regular moves, and I don't feel like going over all of them.

No title evades the Dunning-Kruger effect. I troll the public Houston Pokemon Go facebook group for shits 'n giggles by posting pics of my line-up. About to hit 5 dragonites and calling it quits on the dratini farm.

Let's clear up the misconceptions. You can have a bunch of Snorlax or 0 Snorlax legit, same for Lapras, same for dragonite. Just because someone has a bunch of them does not mean they're cheating. It's also fairly possible they "only" cheated with pokevision type stuff, not botting or spoofing. I know my brother managed 3 snorlax (2 of them awesome) with 0 cheating (not even pokevision) and just being near NYC good luck.

That said, if someone got hard banned they are probably a cheater. This is hardly exclusive to pokemon go either, it happens in every game, people get banned and immediately come the cries of "I wasn't cheating" and "It was just X" that usually turn out to be bullshit and the person was a fucking cheater. This does not mean they are actually catching every cheater - probably only stupid and/or obvious ones (eg Ossoi for the former and Tyen for the latter), but the ones they do catch and permaban? I don't buy some bullshit "just using an IV checker" horseshit for a second.

Once again, not talking about NYC, or even Chicago, I'm talking about a university town of about 100k people. So not only will there be far fewer Snorlax spawns compared to a similar size area in NYC, it also has to spawn close enough for you to get to it in time while being free to actually go after it. On top of that, you have to be lucky enough for it to be high level. The one Snorlax I stumbled across here in town was like 800 CP.

So yeah, there will be people that just get incredibly lucky like your brother. There are undoubtedly people who spend tons of money on incubators, hatching tons of eggs a day. It's just far more likely that somebody with multiple high level Snorlaxes is cheating.

That is definitely less useful for pokes with artificially-inflated stats like Eevees, but for most everything else, something with 80%+ IVs is pretty great. I've gotten 3 Lapras, and only one above 80%. This new function would have told me which to candygrind.

PGNEXUS - Pokemon Go IVs is a new IV rater, same as the one that got IP Banned. Used it twice so hope that they don't ban everyone using it :/
