Fairly certain this is a throwback to an old Pokemon fanfiction. There are three brothers in the story, each with one of the Eevee Evolutions, and their names are Sparky, Pyro and Rainer.

They'd be stupid not to offer that. It's definitely one of the best ways to monetize their game outside of the in app purchases.

I'm playing really casually. I have 3 stops within a 10 minute walk from me so I go out to collect stuff once a day or so.

My wife and I went to the Zoo yesterday with over 30 stops. And then the severs crashed.

Bowling alley near by is a stop and is offering a free game today from 1-8 if you show them your phone. They also will have lures going off the whole time. Pizza place I went to Friday has been setting lures nonstop to attract business also.

Yep. Besides the free park invasion events, I've seen a bunch of businesses posting events saying they're in range of stop(s) and will lure them between x and y time, come out for discounted food/drinks/whatever and catch em all.

Server issues but not offline outright. Decided to go for a walk and try out incense for the first time. Was fine for a while, then kept desyncing and having to reconnect. Lost chances at a Seel which wasn't too big a deal and a Wartortle which I'm still pretty goddamn salty about.

Yeah...I had taken my son over to Humboldt for Pikachus. We caught a few and then servers went down. Kinda annoying, we had 2 Raichu on tracking.

Yeah I finally realized it's not a small town cell coverage issue when I was still having trouble connecting after I got back home. We bought a signal booster a while back and the signal here is pretty much flawless now, 5 bars even in the deepest corner of the basement. Before the booster it wasn't uncommon to not have a signal in the basement at all. Will go for another walk later this evening, hopefully things will have settled down by then.

They're going to be making money hand over fist with this. Even if the majority of people never spend a dime, there are so goddamn many people playing that even a small portion using the cash shop is gonna generate a lot of money.

I guess it released in Canada today, which might explain the servers being down most of the day.

They're really going balls out with releasing in new countries. They should probably focus more on expanding their capacity first, or else they're going to kill their game (my wife seemed pretty ambivalent towards the game today, after being excited most of the last two weeks).
