I don't know if this is the thread for it, but this got me interested enough to try a Nintendo Pokémon game for the first time. After checking reviews, I went with Pokémon White 2. I don't have a 3DS and it seemed like most people said it was better than Black/White 1 and not a huge drawback not knowing the story. Is that accurate?
I just started, so I'm not sure if I'm missing stuff that is obvious to people that have played other versions. It seems straightforward, but with all this IV talk in POGO, I'm sure I'm not doing things optimally. Just not sure I care...doesn't seem like a game I'll need to min-max to beat.

IVs in the actual game only matter if you're going to get into hardcore pvp. AKA not at all for 99% of people who play them. White was the first pokerman game I'd played in a couple generations and it was fantastic, if people say Black/White 2 are even better, you can't really go wrong.

I have to say double types (properly thought out and balanced compared to the mostly retarded way they forced them into Gen 1) add an incredible amount of complexity to assembling a well balanced lineup. My end-game lineup for White was fire/bug, dark/dragon, water, psychic, fighting, flying/electric. The flying/electric was a legendary which some people think is sort of cheating, but he was the only way to have the type balance I wanted while not having to swap a pokemon in and out for Fly. I had originally tried a flying/psychic type, but the fighting specialist of the elite 4 has a bunch of rock moves which destroy flying. If I can't use the flying/electric legendary, I have to reshuffle my entire lineup to still have the balance I want.

18km game distance today, so probably ~21km in actual distance traveled. Hatched a bunch of 5k eggs and got trash, but at least it cleared them out for more shots at 2k and 10k eggs.

It's weird, I'm hoping for Magikarps out of my eggs constantly. I have over 500 Magikarp candy, but my best Magikarp is only 88%. I'll probably be able to do two Gyarados by the time I get a 95%.

Yea I walked to the store tonight and hatched my latest egg patch I need to refill. Picked up 2 abra, 1 bellsprout, 1 jynx, 1 tauros, 1 charmander and a chansey. Good news was that I got 3 I didnt have yet for my pokedex.

What you really want out of eggs are the pokemon you can't catch in your region. for NA that's Mr Mime, Farfetch'd and Kanghaskhan.

It's too bad the out-of-region pokemon are so bad. I wouldn't mind getting them, but I'll be hoping for good pokemon.

Yeah I could give a shit less about the out of region ones, I just want good battling pokermans so I can keep bullying my small town around. If I can't live in a place saturated with pokestops and lure parties, I can at least enjoy being a big fish in a small pond.

I don't even know anyone else with the games, so really not worried about the PVP. I'll just level up the ones I like and go from there then. Thanks.

You can pvp online I think and there's endgame pve.

Your first team is just whatever you like that has a broad range of types. You make the min/max team after you finish the main game and breed the right ivs/evs/natures/abilities and moves.

You can't really min max from the start anyway.

Anyone else having issues with the Pokéadvisor website? I can log in fine, but when I try to look at my Pokéman, it tells me the following "Pokemon could not be loaded. Try refreshing your character. It's also possible the Pokemon Go servers are down." Kind of annoying, I caught two 680+ CP Eevee today and want to see it they're worth evolving.

more off topic; anyone recommend a good emulator for any of the gen 1 pokemon games?

I use visual boy advance and just play the fire red/leaf green remakes. Looks like my team held at least one of the gyms in town overnight which means instead of quickly rolling it and claiming it, I have to sit there training an extra slot. /sadface

Working fine for me.
