Like if they one day said “we’re reviving air wolf”, your target demo will be people who watched that in the 80s and new viewers. But if it is too off the mark, you alienate the original audience.

It can be a hard balance and while deconstructed IPs are all the rage now, if you don’t do it right you basically come off as pissing on the corpse of the original IP

The rational adult women who watched this show will have children and won't think "I liked this as a kid, this will be a fun show to watch". No, they'll think "This was a good show when I was a kid, perhaps my kids will enjoy it too, and I can stand having that bullshit on the TV."

i think there are shows made for kids and then there are other shows that were made for kids and adults. is Powerpuff Girls the former or the latter? like i would consider Teletubbies or Barney the dinosar as shows that will always remain little kids shows. then you have the cool shows like Transformers or GI Joe which can easily transition to a more adult oriented audience while retaining its little kid appeal. its what Marvel and Star Wars built their empires on. if Powerpuff went from a strictly little kid show to an all adult themed lesbofest, thats kinda fucked up.
