I forgot about Pain and Gain. It’s actually a pretty good movie. What a story.

Finally got around to watching "Let the Right One In". The original, not a shitty remake.. Really good movie but not a "normal" vampire movie. Saw the subtitled version as I prefer it over dubbing. If you haven't seen it definitely worth a watch but don't expect an American vampire movie. 8.5/10

I highly recommend Bliss also if you are looking for an unusual but solid vampire flick.

Watched Snyder's Dawn of the Dead again tonight. Damn that movie is good. Probably the best thing he directed. I never realized it was written by James Gunn.

Master and Commander - 8/10. Really enjoyed this movie. The action scenes were great, good acting and a good story line. Its pretty crazy to see how early 2000's movies already look like they were filmed in the 80s.

The Master and Commander book series by Patrick O'brien has like, twenty entries in it if you need more seamen in your life. The movie isn't based on any particular one so you can just start at book one and go.

If I remember right there it's based on the Maturin trilogy, which is the ship's doctor, Paul Bettany's character. I've never read them tho. (I looked it up and I was misremembering, apparently they just combine 3 books, there is no trilogy.)

Just finished all of the Harry Potter series on HBO Max. I had never seen beyond #1. I am still not a Harry Potter "fan" but I enjoyed all the movies. I liked how they handled a single underlying storyline over 8 movies. Its almost a shame Emma Watson grew up as the movies went on. She goes from this precocious little know-it-all always raising her hand to answer the teacher to this teen/young adult who matures beyond that. It makes total sense from the story's perspective, but it makes the latter movies seem less cute little kids "Goonies" and more young adult "Divergent". Beyond that, the series was really good.

ps.. What was up with the Master of Dark Arts Protection being bad/incompetent/traitor etc like each movie? Even my wife who isnt a fan at one point said "it will be the dark arts teacher" as soon as each new movie started.

Atmospheric horror at a normal runtime, liked it quite a bit. I could see some horror influences throughout the picture but it remains entirely its own thing. It's set in a very specific time and place with Great Britain during the video nasty era when they were banning tons of films for their gore. Our main character is one of the censors and has to decide cuts or if a film can't be released at all. One of the films mirrors her memories of her little sister's disappearance and away we go.

Watched it last night. I was thinking 3/10 but you talked me into 2/10.
Where to start? It’s Ice Road Truckers vs the evil mining white man company.

Evil mine asks employees at a diamond mine to turn off the methane detectors. Mine go boom. Some miners die and they need Ice Road Truckers to save them.

They call Morpheus the leader of the Ice road truckers and he gets the team together. Liam Neeson, a young protestor Native American who hates whites, a serial killer and Liam Neeson’s brother. What a terrible actor. He tried to play a retarded guy (not being mean they literally call him “The Retard” ) suffering from PTSD and speaks in gibberish. It’s so fucking bad. He is the reason they say “never go full retard”.

He’s all “ me mechanic ice cold hurry ice melt drown oh no me truck save want Indian girl sit on face” Liam Neeson just stares at him the whole time saying “holy fuck What did I do with my life thanks for for that $10 million Netflix.”

Please everyone watch this with friends or wife. It’s worse than 2012 sukik sukik . Pure comedic value.

Morpheus was like fuck it I need a paycheck too lol.

My wife and I fucking lost it and laughed the whole way through. The best part was the trucks driving over melting ice and the writers knew outside of some rednecks In Dakota and Calgary no one would give two shits about that part so they throw a over the top racist corporate suit serial killer into the mix too.

Watched Burnt with Bradley Cooper and Daniel Bruhl. Pretty formulaic and nothing stand-out. I will give anything with Bruhl a look. It gets bonus points if you have every worked in a restaurant and specifically a kitchen. 4.5/10 or 6.5/10 if you have ever worked in a kitchen (or like watching Hell's Kitchen).

Watched Funhouse 2021. Was surprisingly entertaining. Plus had an ending you love to hate. It is about a group of psuedo reality celebrity has beens competing for 5m in a remote house. The only way to leave is to be voted off by the internet. Unfortunately the way is usually deadly. Antagonist has a message that many might agree with. I would say 7/10 worth a watch/rental for sure. Pretty rocking set of tits in it on the Instagram thot character.
