This game was the shit, we had no idea how to "win", but still played all day.

There was also this atari vcs game that had you run through the egypt desert where you could just play and play and play... and somehow it went on and on and on. Riddle of the Sphinx. Man we were so clueless.

Make sure it has a code continue system and for accuracy make damn sure it NEVER WORKS.
You didnt remeber your mantra... and it didnt help that it was really long :p My brother and I got through the game- it was rough. I remeber I started my own game once and died to the little hoppy eye thing that lead out of the first starting town- there was some way to die there and restart I found where the king would give you money again- as a kid I only had patience to do it enough to buy the best sheild that is at the "hidden" store before the 1st real town- once you passed it you really could not go back easy but it had the best sheild and magic-- so if you where desperate you could farm there forever and buy it and be a badass.

The decent games where awesome, loved that shit... 3 was amazing imo.

I never got into comander keen /shrug...atleast that is what I think acid posted.

LotRD was my first introduction to macros. Goddamn but you had to macro everything in that game. Verbose just doesn't begin to cut how much typing was required. Keeping up with guildchat and raidchat in eq was nothing in comparison.

Wow, it's been ages since I've seen a lot of these, especially Mission Impossible and iirc Aztec Challenge. Played both on a C64 back in the day, and yeah, couldn't figure out how to beat the bloody thing. Aztec challenge was one my cousin was better at than me so I got to see a bit of it. Some of the challenges were just nuts. Especially the rooms of death which I can never remember what they were called.

Here was a favorite on my Atari. Got to play it again on an Activision collection on PS2. Was just as addictive as I remember, even if I could never beat the damn thing....

There is a decent little atari 2600 plug-in-play system you can catch at target/walmart etc sometimes in the discount area- its cool because it has two players, one of the ones I saw had the paddel controller also- and it has more games in it than the little controller that you plug in to the TV. I say this because advanture and pitfall are musts on any collection hehe

I honestly didn't realize Pitfall could be "beaten", I thought it was just a score as many points as possible til you die game.
