Rick replacing himself with a robot at the start of the worst episode of the season is an interesting meta commentary.

I think that I would've really enjoyed it if it wasn't the season finale. The President vs. Rick and Morty episodes are usually mindless and f7n but since this was the finale I think everyone was expecting plot development. Rick findings out that he probably has to go kill hundreds of copies of his nemesis just isn't very compelling. I was hoping for more about outside the central finite curve. Meh.

maybe i'm misremembering last season but I thought the whole central finite curve thing was already explained?

Like they begrudgingly admit that the fake memory of Rick's C-137 wife/daughter being killed was real, and after inventing portal tech our rick created the citadel of ricks to bound probability so that despite being infinite he would only ever go to realities in which his wife/daughter were not killed. This resulted in Beth growing up and having children, thus every reality he ever visits has a morty in it, to be his side kick.

Evil morty wanted to break that so that he could go to a reality where morty's never existed because in some realities (maybe most realities? it's infinite) beth was killed as a child.

There's plenty of universes inside the curve where Beth did not hook up with Jerry, there was a whole plot point where Citadel Ricks were artificially making them end up together to produce more Morty's. The first Interdimensional Cable episode highlighted for Summer how many universes she (and Morty) don't exist and the alternate Beth & Jerry flat out state they got an abortion.

Huh, I enjoyed it. Rick progressed his character, honestly will be interesting to see what rick does when he gives a shit.

Well openly gives a shit, for better or worse his best moments have always been when he cares about something.
well...shit.

I was having a lot of fun asking it to do things like "write a script for a crossover episode between Rick and Morty and Law and Order: Special Victims Unit. Include lots of fart jokes."

Trying to generate one now but keep getting network errors. Those first few days of ChatGPT before everyone else found out about it were so much more fun.

Never thought to try that - 'Write an episode of Rick and Morty directed by Michael Bay' was startlingly plausible and went on for some time before getting killed by 'Error in body stream'. It would be nice if it at least left you what it had done so far before getting cut off.

Yeah I remember that now. I think the key point of the central finite curve was Rick's Wife/daughter living, more so than beth hooking up with jerry or summer/morty being born. Of course if he's cut off all universes where beth dies, you end up with a great many of them where beth gets married and has kids, so at least some have versions of summer and morty. In those universes, yeah ricks can plot to ensure their morty supply by manipulating things in their universes.

I mean only so much can be considered serious canon vs goofiness of this show, its sometimes meta for meta's sake and sometimes tries to tell a coherent story. Like there's plenty of universes where there aren't even people. Like the phone/furniture/pizza bit. Was that all just for a funny bit or was it commentary to be taken into consideration when trying to create an overarching theme?

Generally speaking the central finite curve was cutting off universes where rick's wife/daughter died so that rick wasn't reminded of that pain whenever he portaled to random universes.

Evil Morty was stuck in that subset of infinity where there was always a chance that he would exist, even if in any one particular universe he didn't because beth didnt marry jerry. He wanted out of existence basically.

Sometimes you can "Select all" and copy it right before it errors.

Yikes, this could be bad. At least he wasn't instantly cancelled.

“Rick and Morty” co-creator and lead voice actor Justin Roiland is reportedly facing charges of felony domestic violence in Orange County, California according to NBC News (via Rolling Stone).

This is reportedly in connection with a 2020 incident and criminal complaint filed in May 2020. Roiland pleaded not guilty to the two charges and the criminal complaint, arrest affidavit, and subsequent legal hearings were sealed.

He appeared in court Thursday for a pre-trial hearing which is why the news went public today. NBC News says they have obtained the criminal complaint in the case and state the incident occurred in January 2020 against an anonymous Jane Doe who was dating Roiland at the time.

Roiland’s attorneys reportedly told the court that he was offered a plea deal. The news comes just days after the new animated series “Koala Man,” which he executive produces, debuted on Hulu. Roiland also co-created and performs in Hulu’s “Solar Opposites”.

I'm waiting to see if the female writing staff they hired throw him under the bus.

They are unsuccessful women in 2023 who only have their jobs because they needed a quota

Of COURSE they will throw him under the bus then try to take down any other man in his orbit,
