I played DSP when it was first released and it had a solid start, was worth playing then with just enough buggy and underdeveloped systems to make it fun for people like me that enjoy early access games. I stopped playing at March 2021 (about 2 months after it released in early access) and don't know how it evolved.

DSP is three dimensional, in that you can literally fly off the planet's surface and fly directly to another solar system, but the factory building is "2.5" dimensional. You can stack belts a bit, but can't stack buildings. In late game I focused on creating massive factories that could be copy-pasted using the broke ass modding tools at the time, so my factory lines stacked belts to the limit of the game and it was really time consuming to make somewhat cursed factories.

Conversely, Satisfactory building is completely 3 dimensional. I even toyed with creating small footprint factories that grew to enormous heights, but didn't pursue it. You could put nearly the entire factory I showed earlier into a very small footprint.

I ended up picking Dyson. I haven't played it yet, but I watched a few beginner guide videos and it looks amazing. I should have time to give it a fair amount of time for a first play next week.

Some of those new mechanics, especially the dimensional pocket are absolutely amazing QOL, can't wait!

I thought I had a good excuse not to sink another 1000 hours into this, since after the engine update (8?) my old ass CPU couldn't keep up. My mega-factory saves were just slideshows, and even an empty world ran at sub-60 fps. Figured it was dead to me until I wanted to shell out some cash.

Just tried to run 1.0 for shits & giggles. It runs great. Even my old saves were playable. Dammit.

Is that intro new? Parachute deployed, backup parachute deployed, skipping parachute.. etc.. I don't remember this although its been quite a while since I started a new save.

I started a new save. I might get bored and try to download a save that's a few milestones ahead at some point. Running around without jet packs is annoying.

Finished my new 1.0 playthrough and hit all achievements. This is a very easy game to platinum. Played the dune desert start this time, it was the one remaining start I hadn't done yet.
The dimensional pocket is an absolute game changer for QOL. So much of the game used to be inventory management and planning what you needed to take to build a new remote factory. Then going back on resupply runs when you inevitably ran out of motors or concrete or whatever. No longer needing to do that means you can just focus on factory building and made the game a lot faster for me.
The late game portals then make travelling between your factories trivial which was also nice when I was trying to balance nuclear pasta, thermal proposion rockets and ballistic warp drive production which were all in opposite corners of the map.

The new final stage was too easy imo. The power requirements ramp up ridiculously but the new fuel recipes they added more than balance that out. I made one massive rocket fuel power plant in the blue crater and that provided the 70+ GW I needed to "finish" the game. Last achievement I needed was the 1000 ficsit token statue so I just spent my last days play ramping Ballistic Warp Drive production up to 10/min to finish that off quickly.

The story has always been kind of a "2nd'ary goal"/end game would be disappointing but I'm sure people who never played in EA enjoyed it a lot.

But the new Summersloops are funny.. dbl production output for massive power draw. The Sloop power you can make is the most OP shit I've ever seen in a factory game, it is about even with space explorations beam former shenanigans.

I'm still partway through a 1.0 playthrough, unorganised as hell, jank all the way.

The dimensional uploaders are clearly the best thing ever.

I thought this was pretty good when I played it in early access, but it's great now.

Yeah, not very far in our run either, just the wife and I for the most part. I don't even have computers automated yet or anything :p

Still running around farming spheres and stuff. Just got murdered by a giant radioactive spider. Kinda. Ran for my life and ended up running out of jetpack fuel and fell to my death... right next to another giant spider.

I'd just forget about that death box for a bit... but there's 7 damn orbs in it. Why wasn't I putting those in the dimensional pocket as I got them :|

I played this a bit in early access and recently reinstalled when I saw they went 1.0. This game is simultaneously awesome and at the same time I find myself only being able to play like 20 minute sessions. I'm solo, so I just end up being like "ehhh fuck this" when I have to run all the way back somewhere or grind out a bunch of mats for next station upgrade. Then I play the next time and get that milestone, then gas out at the next one. This would probably be pretty fun with a group like our old FOH Minecraft runs.

Look at this thing!

This could be complete BS but allegedly Coffee Stain asked for Lets Play It Out's save file to "look" at and see if they could learn anything to optimize the game a bit more, pretty wild.

They did a fantastic job on the 1.0 release. Quite a few QOL additions, the blueprint Mk3 designed is amazing. Being able to plop down 20+ constuctors/assemblers/whatever at a time makes for some real quick gigafactory builds. The dimensional depot is such a huge QOL, they nailed that one. Of course many other changes but god damn this company does games right.

Ocean freighters + barge transport DLC plz? God I love this game.

He's exactly the kind of QA tester you'd want to learn from. He manages to break EVERYTHING.

I've heard that before that the devs asked for his save files for load testing and other QA. Pictures of his tornado are on official store pictures and his hypertube accelerator seems to be accepted mechanics now. Everything I've seen from Coffee Stain says they're happy people push the boundaries and even if people don't play the way they intended they're happy their game supports varying play styles. As it should be for a sandbox or single player game.

When I reinstalled it found my old old save (pre water for coal power) which was getting pretty janky at the time. Loaded up smooth with no fps loss. I'm sure I'm on a newer computer since then but performance does seem much improved and the QoL changes are nice.

Love this game. Been slowly playing through 1.0 w/ the wife, we're poking through tier 9 but having to step back and shore up some basics like dumb computers and reinforced frames. Have some fluid issues too, my nuke plants randomly will stop working because only 1 of them can get water, while it is plentiful and if left alone the others intermittently suddenly work. Fortunately we're not relying on them really for power, but the more particle accelerators and converters we put down the sooner that's going to change. Going to just rip all the pipes up, make them all level and remove pumps, etc, and instead elevate the conveyors going to/from. The start/stop has made trying to get the input/output balanced worthless too, so just have 3 nuke plants, one of them chewing through plutonium.

A few random shots:

Oil fracking site spilling over the cliff feeding a drone pads and monorail station.

Nitro pier making turbo motors, and (very slowly) nuclear pasta.

Drones servicing the Nitro base (rubber, aluminum casing). I wish you could reliably ride these, rather than fling you off. Let me hold on or something. Guess these can be nuke powered, if you account for the mobile radioactivity. My nuke towers are in the background there, tempted to make a bunch of drone pads and use them to bolster supplies at my nitro pier / support nuke reprocessing. Sounds like a fun project anyways, we'll see if I ever get around to it.

Should finish the game before FICSMAS starts December 1st. We might dive into Foundry once we've beaten this. We'll see.
