1. It's clear from Garriott talking in a couple of those interviews above that the prices are set knowing that they are still going to resell on ebay etc for multiples of those numbers.

2. I struggled with the cost but it isn't actually a $720 add just for the Knights Keep. You're actually getting all the bonuses for all the tiers below you, which number over 100 and the village lot. Personally I would have ponied $50-$100 for that Animal Taming horn alone. Village Lot itself is $200.

Total cost of the Knights tier is actually $750 not $800 until after Sunday btw. You see the discount price for each tier when you click on them. As we've discussed, those prices end on 04/07

Main thing as Treesong said is for everyone to make sure you have Founder accreditation before Sunday. It appears to be the case that after Sunday you will still be able to get all those extra rewards and Founder bonuses but you will just pay the regular price instead of the discount price. Once Sunday passes though there will be no way to get Founder accreditation.

Anyone who will go anywhere near this game should, 100% without doubt, shout up now and get Founder accreditation though. If anyone doesn't understand from the last page how to get that shout up and one of us can talk you through it and get it set up for you within minutes.

I'm with you on the basements Vvoid. If the Mining basement is functional then that's what I want.

I think it is very hard to predict these days, which virtual pixels will get real-dollar value, and which aren't. The two most important factors imo: game-success and availability of the assets. The first is very unpredictable; the second could be more predictable if only gamecompanies could be trusted.
smile.png

Houses will probably come very cheap in the future, but you will not be able to get most of the founder houses anymore. I think they will stick to this, since they can easily design new types of houses, new cultural and racial styles, you name it. So as an example, the Lighthouse may very well become a prized asset, especially when they do not implement other styles of lighthouses.

The value of lotdeeds is also difficult to predict: there will be limited lots, they have said this time and again. However, the way SotA is set up (no continuous world) it is very easy for them to add new villages(which would simply be a new scene somewhere on the map) where they can add lots. So it will most likely be the lots that are in the large, named cities, the popular hubs, that increase in value. However, they could off course add a new landmass or big Island and place a City on that.

The thing is, if the game is succesfull, then Garriott will want to please all those new players too: it will be very hard for him to say, "sorry, only 20% can have a house in this game, the other 80% banging at the door will have to play this game without this most important feature."

So success may increase certain assets (rare houses, coveted lots in cities) but it will also most likely lower the value of the more common assets because new additions will come constantly.

Also, Flight, are you a salesman?

Did the founders kickup thing. Can't wait to go mining with a pack mule, get ganked, ragequit, then come back with a macro to make and sell skull caps to buy my own house which I'll lose months later due to neglect.

What if I already put down 40 non-founder dollars to the game? Anyway to make myself a founder?

What direction is this game going? At first I thought it was going to be a single player RPG, but now it's a Second Life-type real estate MMO?

You can just go ahead and do a deal like Flight did, then once you are a founder, you can email[email protected]/* <![CDATA[ */!function(t,e,r,n,c,a,p){try{t=document.currentScript||function(){for(t=document.getElementsByTagName('script'),e=t.length;e--;)if(t[e].getAttribute('data-cfhash'))return t[e]}();if(t&&(c=t.previousSibling)){p=t.parentNode;if(a=c.getAttribute('data-cfemail')){for(e='',r='0x'+a.substr(0,2)|0,n=2;a.length-n;n+=2)e+='%'+('0'+('0x'+a.substr(n,2)^r).toString(16)).slice(-2);p.replaceChild(document.createTextNode(decodeURIComponent(e)),c)}p.removeChild(t)}}catch(u){}}()/* ]]> */and they will merge the pledges for you. That means, if you get the 40 dollar Founder pledge from someone who sends it to you, CS will add the 40 dollars of your Benefactor pledge so you will immediately upgrade to an 80 dollars tier which is equal to the Royal Artisan pledge , I believe. Which is a very nice tier, in my opinion.

Go herePlayer Marketplace | Shroud of the Avatar Forumto get one of the Original founders to buy and send you a 40 dollar founder pledge. I think Astrobia gives the best deal, the guy does not even cash the bonus he would get from Portalarium(25 bucks) but immediately sends it to you.

I'm considering the Knight tier, because I'm thinking I might be able to unload the Lighthouse for a good chunk at some point, and I really like the Knight House as far as layout and space. I'm not too keen on pressing the pledge button to see what the monthly payments would amount to, so does anyone know some details? How many payments is it broken into? Is there any interest? Do you get it when you pay it off fully, or do you still get to take advantage of the priority lot selection if you're up-to-date on your payments? I've looked through the site a little to find some answers, but haven't seen any.

Although now that I think about it, I guess you guys are saying there is a forum that I should probably check. Ah well, I typed it so I'll leave it. If I find the answers before anyone else posts them I'll update.

EDIT: Oh shit, I totally didn't realize that I'd also be getting the Citizen and Edelmann homes. Hmm, that makes resale even more interesting.

Vvoid, I did monthly on the Knight deal. Came out to $129 monthly BUT they make clear it's basically a direct debit and they can't cancel it - you have to. So if you don't remember to you'll keep adding money to your account.

No mate I've never done sales but some years ago my boss at the time insisted I did the full IBM Sales School, which is among the most prestigious sales training in the world. I was actually the Technical Architect responsible for all their Government contracts and he thought I should be familiar with that stuff.

I just call it how I see it. Wouldn't touch Wildstar or TESO with a bargepole right now, but this is an investment and a great one at that.

Like I said, I was preparing to offer you $50-$100 just for that Tamer Horn before I realized I had it in my pledge and that's just one out of over a hundred items included in the package.

They're doing limited edition items now and again. That hot tub thing they did this last week sold out fast.

Recognizing Our Original Backers | Shroud of the Avatar Forum

Flight, the Hot tub was originally an April Fools joke, but they decided to make it happen anyway. Here is the latest update:Update of the Avatar #67 04/04/14: Too Hot in the Hot Tub, R4 Perspective, Easter Goodies, Duke Castle, Baron Rewards, and More! | Shroud of the Avatar

Here is a thread when it was still an April Fools joke:Ye Olde Hot Tub | Shroud of the Avatar Forum

So it is actually for sale now. In the announcement they say it is an unlimited item now, however if you go buy it, it is mentioned as a "limited edition" that can run out, so I do not know what to believe now. The announcement is very recent, undoubtedly people will ask questions about it. I bought one anyway.

Join and see, we have Pre alpha beta tests like every 4 weeks or so they normally last 3-4 days and everyone gets to play and test stuff.
The devs are great on Communication they do like weekly updates on the website, forums, social media, yourtube etc.
They actually read the forums, and reply and listen to our suggestions, and ideas etc.

No more or less than UO was. But it's the first MMO since UO to have meaningful 'real world' housing. Priority placement is significant.

If you've played EQN:L imagine the priority system in that in something like WoW or EQ1, with the housing in cities/towns/villages and with the player driven economy and player created itemization of SWG.

c'est voila!

A game like this is only as successful as its players make it to be. I'm not sure SotA will have a healthy enough population to be worth it in the long run.

Time will tell. Citz did you play UO and the Ultima series ? If not I suspect you are in for a surprising treat. My answer that you quoted only describes housing, which is one aspect of the foundations of the game. There is a whole host of content and class choices beyond that.

Lots of people have been saying for years, 'if only they'd remake UO/Asherons Call/etc' with modern graphics. On this Garriott is clear in all the interviews I've watched and listened to - this really is Ultima Online + or 2.0 with modern graphics. He consistently talks about the only thing holding it back from being just that is the trademarks that were sold over the years when he let UO go. And is clear that the name (New) Britannia is in because that just can't be trademarked. Except of course that he has had 17 years since UO to hone his ideas on everything in the game.

A sign of that is that one of the things I am most anticipating short term is that tonights hour long dev diary special is on fishing. Imagine a WoW hour long dev diary on fishing ? There's my point in a nutshell. But I'm sure they'll evolve UOs system with MiBs, SoSs, fshing up stuff like Fabled Nets that spawn Legendary Leviathins when used, fishing up treasure maps to use etc etc Again if you didn't play UO and aren't familiar with Garriott you have no idea how deep this can be and that you can play the whole game as a non combat, largely solo Fisherman class with a more satisfying game experience in this class alone than any of the modern MMOs

Again folks - last day ever you will be able to get Kickstarter founder status on this game. That adds multiple rewards at all levels. No doubt in my mind that unless you are certain you will never play this you should get this sorted today. With the help of any one of us who have already got Founder status you can also get the $90 Royal Artisan tier as well as founder status just for your basic $40 cost (Founders get $25 recruit reward which they can choose to pass on to you, Alienware is giving a limited time free $20 towards your pledge plus there's a limited time discount for all pledge levels if you are a Founder). This all ends at close of play today 04/07

Todays Deep Dive is about Mulitplayer and instancing - it's making things a lot clearer for me.

Deep Dive Instancing | Shroud of the Avatar

They are implementing/have implemented a smart version of TESOs mega server.

Single world

Instancing where necessary is smart based on your guild/group/friends list/ignore list etc

Any of your housing/vendors/lots will exist in all realities for everyone, which is very cool, so it's not like multiple servers and your house only exists on one

1 character per account - I'm a big fan of this. Primary reason is that there will be consequences for griefing and the negative virtue choices which you could make in UO and which exist in this

Ryanz check your PMs mate. Goiing to bed in a couple minutes but will wait to see if you want to sort out Founder status now.

For anyone else how it works is this :

1. Any present Founder status member can buy you a $40 Founder status account by paying the $40 themselves

2. The buying Founder gets a $25 recruit bonus which they can give to you.

In effect you get a $65 Founder status account for $40, which you paypal to the Founder helping you (ensuring you have a Founder who will gift you their $25 recruitment bonus).

You then add on the promotional $20 gift from Alienware.

This gives you a Founder status account with $85 pledge level for $40. Artisan level promotion cost is reduced to $80 finishing this weekend so you qualify for that.

What you need to do is :

1. Create an account on SoTA and don't pledge anything on it.

2. Contact a Founder and confirm they are willing to help you out on here or on the link Treesong quoted; send them the email address attached to the SoTA account once you have paypal'ed them $40

3. Cllick on the link on the email you receive from SoTA

4. Click on the Alienware link

This all ends 04/07

Can't believe this game isn't getting as much buzz as other games on this forum. A new MMO by the practical founder of MMO's and only 22 pages to show for it. Pretty sad considering some of the abortions of MMO's that have hundreds of pages. The level of professionalism, and the amount of information and communication that these guys provide should be a breathe of fresh air to this community. If you haven't donated to this game you're really going to be kicking yourself when this game gets released and it is the second coming of the MMO jesus. I'm taking Flight up on his offer to become a Founder, and you should to...if you care at all about a quality MMO from the guys who created the genre.

Done Ryanz. Check your email. Just click on the link in that and you're set.

Once you've done that stay logged in on that SoTA account and click on the following for the freebie Alienware $20 bonus pledge to your account:http://na.alienwarearena.com/news/ge...pledge-upgrade

Anyone else want to do this I'll check regularly for the next couple hours. Takes two minutes.

I'm only speaking for myself but the original description of the game didn't even sound like a MMO. Did something change that has made this more of a traditional mmo? I'm not a fuddy duddy that says WoW isn't a MMO because of all the instancing and stuff like that so I'm really curious if something has changed or my reading comprehension was fail.
