I too noticed the server dudes badge had a picture from like 1996. Worked with too many dudes like that.

Also because I make servers/appliances these last few episodes have been nailing my job 100%

Did he really need to trip and have the entire skunk works shit get outed RIGHT AWAY? This show is ridiculous with the amount of shit sandwiches Richard eats every week.

That last joke was fucking terrible. I would have reacted exactly like Richard.

If we were to say that even the trip was part of the ruse, it may have been done because Richard is a clutz and is always eating shit so they wanted it to look natural.

I love it either way. It seems like all evidence points to the ruse. But if it would go the other way, I laughed pretty hard at the idea of this overly complicated plan and the montage leading up to it going into action only to have it not mean anything in the end. That to me felt like classic Mike Judge.

Why did they explain the ruse as something completely different than what it actually was? Jared explained it as just going on about your business the same as before... so for them that meant keep acting miserable at work. The actual ruse was the leak of false documents.

But him tripping over that cord means they would have also needed to plant the janitor there and let him on it, had Jared do the opposite of what he told everyone else to do and be a shit talker which is completely out of character for him, and then they had to whisper yell at each other about Richard bringing the documents in even though nobody else was within ear shot to really sell it to.... nobody because nobody could hear them? Not to mention they probably would have had to have sales guy 1 in on it too because how else would they know someone would be within range to pick up the spilled pile of paper?

I'm not buying it as anything other than the normal Silicon Valley "We can't let anything good happen to these guys for more than half an episode"

Erlich seemed fairly friendly with the worker. It is conceivable that they brought him in on it. Sales people are all brown nosing fuck shits so it makes sense that if a sales fag saw something that he could bring to the CEO for brown nosing material he'd do it. Nothing here seems completely out of the realm of possibility. Everyone knew Richard didn't want the PP box so if they saw anything leading them to think he was doing the contrary they'd bring it up.

The show is just really clever and the whole Haversack thing is a clever way to move the plot forward. That Reddit post linked above is convincing, and where I think things probably go. I don't think the details about having the janitor involved or whatever matter in this case. It isn't that type of a show. They're in it for the gags. And if we find out later that things like those knee pads were all part of a bigger bit here, it'll go right along with the history of the show being way too clever. Think of all the SWOT board cards that weren't commented on in the show but we got to enjoy after the fact.

It doesn't really matter either way though. This theory might be wrong. I think it's equally as funny if we had that big Ocean's 11 montage followed by the plan just getting shit on. Show is amazing either way.

Pretty convenient placement of the cord in relation to a guy they had no way of knowing would be in on it and just happen to be walking by.

All the other shit sandwiches they've eaten might have been a long con though to this point where we think it's a shit sandwich but it's really a bag with fake papers.

Yeah I think it's just par the course at this point of these guys just repeatedly getting fucked.

If the cord wasn't there it's not like he couldn't have tripped over his own feet instead. Not exactly an integral part of the plan if the dive was supposed to be staged.

They've completely set me up to believe it's nothing other than just another Richard gets screwed moment. The whole haversack thing is just a red herring!

In an interview before S3 Judge already acknowledged that he's following this cycle of "build them up, break them down" thing. He also acknowledged the show can't really function without some amount of fuck up because if they sell out and go full Hooli its hard for the show to function. I wouldn't be surprised if Judge is setting this up as another "that Richard can't get out of his own way" but in reality is Richard actually playing his hand correctly.

I think they constantly showed the asian janitor guy because it seems like he is ALWAYS watering the plants, so they knew he would be there.

Why did they make such a huge point of saying destroying the evidence was vital while in the privacy of their own home and why did they pay 20 grand to that chick to keep her mouth shut then?

And why would they reveal a fake skunkworks? Richard already went over the CEO's head and pissed him off, now this skunkworks thing, even if fake, would ensure that every move Richard makes would be monitored, likely including full monitoring of his company computer.

Because that is integral to the strategy. Same reason the Brits lead their troops into known killing fields. To cement the story. In this case more probably cementing it to the viewers than to Pied Piper, though. It is also reasonable that they paid Carla actually to float the story also. That way if he tries to see what is actually going down she can double agent.

So they purposely lied to the audience as if the audience was part of the story and they know about us? So this show is breaking the 4th wall now? And they came up with that Carla plan on the fly after she told them to fuck off and pay her?

This is becoming horribly tedious but yes a show can withold information to build a storyline. That isn't breaking the 4th wall.
