My first apartment after college was across from a bunch of Indians. When they'd open the door from their all day cooking of what smelled like boiled feces you'd see sleeping bags and shit all over the living room. It was a 2BR 2BA apartment and I swear at least 8 people lived in there.

I actually had a coworker about 3 months ago telling me that they were looking at buying a house, but it was currently occupied by squatters. The squatters both had full time jobs and even did upgrades to the house (granite counters, etc).
They were tempted to buy it, but were looking at something like 6-12 months before they got court ordered to leave, according to their realtor.

I actually have quite a bit experience with squatters as I live in New Bedford, MA. one of the biggest shitholes in New England. Its infested with Guatemalans and Ive seen countless families of 8+ rent an apartment using a third party or somehow juke the lanlord at the time of initial agreement and end up bailing on paying rent after about 6 months of solid payments on time. They then take the fight to court after first eviction notice and usually can get so many exceptions it can last more than 18 months. SO you figure they pay 6 months, then get at least a full calendar year rent free before ultimately being forced out.
Its caused lanlords to be very strict and jack up asking price at agreement, 1st and last months rent down, deposit and sometimes other costs that can price most prospective decent renters out of apartments.

yeah, that would be a situation where I'd pay a few guys to pay those squatters a visit and "convince" them to leave.

I'll agree New Bedford is one of the shittiest places I've ever been. I used to have a band practice there and the area at night was really not pleasant.

Haha nice man. Im always in the Somerset area. I go to Bristol Community College and take pictures in the area quite frequently.
I actually live in Fairhaven near Mattapoisett but I spend most of my time in New Bedford.
