My battery drops at least twice as fast as it did with iOS 7.

There might be some background processes that it's started up that I haven't found yet, but yeah. It doesn't seem like a good step forward for iOS, despite having some interesting new features.

Seems like every iOS update kills the battery from complaints people make. Almost as if they want to encourage sales of the new model that invariably launches a few months after the update rapes old batteries.

Not sure if 7 did, but I remember similar complaints for 6.

I would like the new iPhone, but I am 18 months from an upgrade, and Verizon won't let me just switch to Edge, trade in my phone, and get it with Edge. Sad face.

I had enormous amounts of slow down and freezing after upgrading to iOS 8 yesterday. I rebooted my phone and was fine after that. Haven't noticed abnormal battery drain though, but then again, I have all notifications turned off except the badge icons. That was a pet peeve of mine with iOS. The lock screen notifications always turned your screen on and it always drained battery.

Yea I notice the battery dropping faster on iOS 8 on my 5c. I'm gonna try run it a full day tomorrow and see if it happens again. Oh well, preordered 6+ so hopefully that's better. Anyone can recommend a good company that makes snap-on lens that they made for the 5 and 5s? Looking to get a set when it eventually comes out for the 6+.

My 5s, at least, is super durable. I don't know how the 6 compares in that regard.

I still think I might buy myself out of my Edge contract so I can get something different though. The new features in iOS 8 aren't worth the much faster battery drain to me. I'm really interested in a windows phone, and I think the apps will continue to catch up.

One thing they added in iOS 8 is battery tracking under Settings => Usage. That might help you figure out what's draining your battery.

For what it's worth, battery life on my 5 isn't any different, but I'm a heavy GPS user and keep a charger with me.

I replaced my 4 today and got a 6. Damn! What an improvement. I'm really digging the phone but I don't get all technical like you guys.

Upgraded from a 4 today to a 6 also, huge upgrade. Swapped from att to sprint as well, 50 dollars a month for unlimited was just too good to pass up, their service is ALMOST as good as att, and the store gave me 150 dollars of acessories of credit for the trade in on my 4 year old 4. So I feel like I got a pretty good deal. 3G service only at my house but it seems at least as fast as att 3G, which is all I had before, but I'll use wifi anyways, but their lte was amazingly fast when I was in town, but then again I have nothing to compare that to since I never used their lte either, although I know their coverage is as spotty as sprints.

Upgrade my iPhone 4S to the new iPhone 6. Huge improvement, I'm really happy. It's so much bigger but way lighter, I feels weird.

I held the iPhone 6 Plus and it just felt too big for me, but the regular 6 is a nice size.
