I have just jumped ship to a galaxy s4 after owning an iphone since release.. as such i'm a little clueless insofar as android functionality goes. I have most things figured out, but i'm having two prevalent problems that I can't find the answer googling..

1) How do you save pictures? This seems pretty ... basic. I've read that you should be able to "long press" similar to the iphone, but it just doesn't work. I'm trying to save pictures from email, facebook, internet.. whatever - phone doesn't respond. I know how to take a screen shot, but I want to directly save an image.

2) Why, when I plug my phone into any AUX connection for music, does only one side (in terms of balance) play? For example, in the two cars i've used it to play music via pandora, one car is right side speakers only, other car is left sided speakers only. I also can't find an answer for this.

Any help will yield excellent internet karma.

Just curious but is it a mono-cable? A stereo cable will have 3 rings on the jack, a mono cable will have 2 rings.

I have had 3 different Android phones (but not a Samsung) now and across multiple versions/browsers I have always only had to long-press to save a picture.

No clue on your AUX connection issue.

Aux issue might be a bad wire or a bad jack on the phone

Saving pictures it depends on the app. Gmail is a little different with the paper clip click to save. Browser is long press on picture. I use dolphinHD and never had an issue.

Yeah, Chrome on my S4 only takes about a 2 second screen press on any picture before it pops up a menu with save image/open image/open image in new tab options.

The default Samsung browser is pretty much the same with a few additional options of copy/saving the image URL as well. Looks like this:

Do you have a case on your phone when you're using the aux cable? Some cases prevent the cable from going in all the way and end up making the sound come out off like that, I had that issues with my smartphone for a while.

Cell phone cameras may be approaching ridiculousness..

41 Megapixel Nokia Lumia 1020

Hell, my 13 MP S4 is almost too much, the damn pictures are 4-5MB apiece, they take up a lot of space and it's difficult to email more than 1 or 2 at a time to someone, you hit email attachment size limits quick. Facebook won't accept pictures over 4MB I believe...I have to manually resize many pictures before uploading to FB even at 13MP

A 41MP camera has to take like 20MB pictures or something ridiculous like that...

New Google Maps sucks. They cut out Latitude and added it over to Google+ Location Sharing (who the fuck wants to check two apps to see traffic and where your friends/spouse are)? They also removed the distance slider bar, so now I gotta take my hands off the wheel to fucking zoom out. Google, y u make things moar difficult??

I just noticed the update when I went to GPS a route this morning, and I kinda hate it. It basically takes all the worst parts of Google Now and puts them on top of a map.

Also, why the fuck do I have to hit the back button FOR EVERY SCREEN just to exit the goddamn app?

The camera saves two photos - a full resolution 38MP shot that can be accessed through a computer, and an 8MP shot for sending via email/instant message and what not.

Nokia's pureview tech is pretty damn amazing, though (check out the DPreview of the Pureview 808 to learn more about it -http://www.dpreview.com/articles/808...a-808-pureview). If this phone ran Android, I'd be picking it up day one. Bah.

Yeah, I really wish that Windows Phone had the app support of Android/iOS. Nokia's hardware/software is fucking incredible(I love my 920), but the app support for Windows Phone is garbage.

So now I've got my S4...

I have no idea what I want to do with it.

It's not so much that I won't find things to do with it, but it's kind of like that quote from The Dark Knight: "I'm like a dog chasing cars."

So post some of your best "Cool Shit" apps.

I would head over toXDA Developers, they should be able to provide a ton of info on things to do with your phone.

I don't know if they are "cool shit" apps but a couple of must-haves for me are Endomondo for tracking my bike rides/exercise and Eye In The Sky for weather.

I actually used to use Latitude a lot, but once my wife switched to an iPhone I sort of forgot about it. Now with my kids getting smart phones I wish it was still integrated with the maps.

Overall I don't think it is that bad, will just take some getting used to. But hey, at least they added in some of the features that have existed on iOS for a while now! (multiple routes being one of them)

I've always been underwhelmed by the google maps app, especially when I downloaded some 3rd part Gmaps app on my Windows tablet, it's arguably a better experience than the regular Gmaps on a PC browser. I don't understand why google can't make a nice app on their own OS for their own damn maps.

Am I the only person who absolutely hates the new Google Maps and Gmail? Shit is driving me nuts. Just show me my fucking inbox with everything in it. Also the navigation blows compared to what it used to be. Being able to simply switch between route view/traffic view/etc was so easy before.

@Izo: Android

@Kuriin: That is exactly how I feel. They updated Gmail about 2-3 weeks ago with minor annoying changes (no delete button when you opened emails), then fucked it up some more with another patch, now they completely redesigned it again. The maps were updated as well, coming a few after they introduced the new browser maps (which also blows). Maybe I'm just a grumpy dumbass who needs to shutup and get used to the changes but I really dislike the new designs and interface.
