For a revolution to occur in the U.S. the economy has to completely implode. If the U.S. economy goes down in flames, (run away inflation, what have you) the rest of the world can't be doing too hot either. Anyways, lack of funding means all of these nifty control structures we have in place that actively prevent any kind of armed revolt from getting beyond a whisper, become weaker or go away.
All kinds of social control structures suffer in an economic collapse. Schools, Fire Protection, Police, Hospitals ect. You can look at isolated areas of the country to see what life is like without those services.
Throw in some sure to occur natural disasters and you could wind up with certain, impoverished communities simply not coming back. People might still try to live there, but they would have to look to outside agencies to handle most civil services and law enforcement responses. It would be like sending aid to a not so foreign country. It could get pretty wild in these parts as response times get longer and longer.
Now this is all just a degradation of community cohesion and stability. Nothing here is really an organized response against the government. However, by removing that stability and infrastructure, a region is created where violent groups could take hold and start operating. This could escalate quickly and turn these regions into mini war zones. The U.S. would probably just use drones to harass and patrol the regions to try and make life for any would be revolutionaries a lot of not fun.
This is all seriously hypothetical bullshit I am making up. But I think the key to any kind of organized "resistance" to the American government, is economic collapse.
