I played this most of the way through the EA campaign when it first came out. I got up to I think the 3rd last mission when I had one of those moments where a stacked enemy hero appears out of the fog of war early in the game and kills my hero immediately. I had a few close calls on this kind of thing in earlier missions but always had at least one turn to run away.
The game is a fun HOMM clone.

Oh, well I hope they fix that before 1.0 is released! The Sseth review was what made it look promising, and it has had numerous updates since then.

yeah, sseth is usually very solid. I think he might have jumped the gun on this one. I've not kept up with it, so don't know where it stands currently. but my thoughts mirrored everyone elses in this thread.

As I said above, I stopped playing after the 3rd time a ridiculously powerful enemy hero magically appeared a single turn away from my main city with my main hero several turns away. It was just too fucking stupid to keep going.
