John Hannah - Batiatus, Nick E. Tarabay.- Ashur, Peter Mensah - Oenomaus and Andy Whtifield - Spartacus, even Lucy Lawless - Lucretia. The main cast were just better actors.

So if they stick to the whole, never found Spartacus' body I'm thinking either he escapes from the end battle, probably injured and just goes into hiding or something. That or he dies, some of the slaves retreat and take the body with them and end up giving him the gladiator's death by burning his body etc etc.

Sad it ends though, such a great tv series overall.
My guess is he dies and last shot shows him reuniting with his wife in the afterlife, while Agron and the edile's wife (Laeta was it?) lead the few survivors across the alps and into freedom.

As for Gannicus, historically he split up from Spartacus right before the end and was killed in battle, so chances are he is going to die (sadly)

Ugh, Im actually sad that this show is ending and that I know how it will end. Gonna be bittersweet. But till the bitter end I guess. I also assume Crassus gives Spartacus mad props right before he dies.

If this show has established anything it is that season finalies are amazing. Pretty hyped.

The Douglas/Kubrick film set some seriously big shoes to fill, not only in the infamous 'I am Spartacus' scene but also where Crassus knew Spartacus and forced him to fight Antoninus. I'm hoping for a Spartacus v Gannicus ending.

However they play it out, it's going to be emotional...

Will be remiss to see the show end... I'm a huge Roman History fan (hello 4 years of Latin for no reason except to study gladiators n roman shit). The dialogue is always poetic to a point and gritty gore is always a plus.

I just got this from FB:

"Tomorrow's forecast: a storm of blood."

edt: I just noticed, all of the blood is on Spartacus, and none on Crassus

Two hours until the end. My final prediction is that Spartacus and his generals die protecting the slaves, while they get into the hills and go free. But lots of slaves will die.

After the credits, Spartacus meets his wife, Oenemaus, and Crixus, and they welcome him to the afterlife. They tell him he fought well and died with honor.

According to historical accounts, the slave revolts brought virtually no change to Roman society. There was never a slave revolt again, after the Romans crucified enough slaves to cross the state of Arizona (not sure if they'll show that).

The writers will want to show some sort of victory (which is the name of the episode), but since they are sticking with history, it will a personal victory. The victory of freeing some slaves, living (and dieing) as free and self-determined people, and meeting their loved ones in the afterlife as a reward.

And by afterlife, I mean Elysium and not Hades.

"The victory of freeing some slaves, living (and dieing) as free and self-determined people, and meeting their loved ones in the afterlife as a reward."

I agree with this, but I still think there's a very good possibility that Spartacus escapes thanks to his new girlfriend. The big question that'll be answered tonight is how much they'll try to set up a spinoff show that I'd be delighted to watch.

Screw the spinoff, the last Roman I liked was the Ass Raper, and he's no longer around.

Stream of thought alcohol-induced observations: The ending, even in the episode, seemed a bit thick with the foreshadowing. From Gannicus's messiah reference to Crassus's cold-hearted stare into the camera while embracing his concubine, it was just heavy-handed. I found myself laughing at the irony that I actually wanted Naevia to live despite hating the character. I enjoyed her cockroach like ability to survive the most implausible of situations and was rather disappointed to not see her scurrying around the defeated army. The Crassus/Spartacus duel just seemed superfluous. Slightly disappointed they didn't kiss in loving embrace. The ending seemed weird, but not entirely objectionable. The Roman army being surrounded and apparently outnumbered based on the CGI seemed out of place. Poor Gannicus, such an inglorious end for one of the better characters in the series.

Looks like I was pretty close. There was a victory of sorts. Apparently, Gannicus is gonna fight in the arena forever?
