He’s been rocking the bigger physique since split I think
This movie was like a horror movie for rich liberals and what they must think it’s scary to interact with people that aren’t them
- vegan flat stick of a wife and she’s taller than her *she’s the fucking lesbonator from the god awful dark fate terminator*
- limp wristed twink of a husband *he whined about losing his legs in Batman Superman*….perfect liberal couple
- the wife does all the act of heroics lol
- she’s running around in fucking cleaning gloves as she does her saving….the twink couldn’t even take on the cook without needing his woman to save him
- even the daughter did more than the dad
- and lastly the little dude at the end did what that dad couldn’t even do and I hope he cucks that twink and takes the bitches for himself in the end
Watched on Peacock, good thriller, kinda reminded me of Cape Fear (nowhere near as good but same ballpark of movie).
Didn't like how useless the ultra-cuck husband was and how the wife did pretty much everything that took any bravery or initiative while the husband simpered around whining. Very 2024 Hollywood movie. At least they could have let the husband defeat the cook or something, but nope, wife came running from somewhere to win that battle as well just to really hammer home (hyuck) that the husband couldn't deal with anything at all himself. Surprised McAvoy's wife didn't beat him up too.
Figured the Syrian babysitter guy would show up again (probably with the cook) but nope. His inclusion in the movie felt like a story loose end or something.
Gonna watch the original immediately so that'll be interesting.
EDIT: Watched the 2022 European version. Way better, way more disturbing, pulled no punches.
-100% an allegory for Europe's issues with migrants, considering the emphasis on "You don't like us because we do things differently?" early and "You let us" later. Even the tongue-cutting of the kids was probably some kind of allegory for female circumcision or something.
-The husband actually got to be assertive and useful in this one.
-The Syrian babysitter actually did return to be villainous later, so they didn't have to bring in a white guy cook to play that role.
-What got me the most was that the bad guys didn't even have guns in this version, just a few slaps and punches and authoritative speaking and the "good" couple just shut up and did what they were told, right down to
laying down and getting stoned to death
which I think made the most impression out of everything else in the movie.
This comparison makes Hollywood look that much worse. I mean the European version said so much, while the Hollywood version was more concerned with girlbosses and positive endings.
