Comic question... has Spiderman always been that durable? I felt the movie depicted him pretty tough. To the level of even Wolverine would probably waller around on the ground grunting for a moment yet the bounced back pretty quickly or was completely unscathed. Also, (I don't think this a spoiler) but did anyone else notice the lack of spider-sense? No "flashes" or anything indicating that he "felt" something that allowed him to trigger a reflex/reaction.

I'm not downing the movie but just trying to put it all together and understand what Spiderman we are getting. I've already posted my review and I really enjoyed it but just thought about that a bit more.

I actually thought his durability and overall powers took a hard nerf from the Raimi movies.

I enjoy the hell out of this movie, the humor was on point example " i ...was...watching....porn"

"PETER KNOWS SPIDERMAN!" .......

and of course

"...patience can sometimes pay off" < this one I found the funniest.

Did you guys see it in 3D or imax or something? I saw it in plain old normal 2D and had no problem following the action. The only part that got a bit over the top was the final fight on the jet with the reflector cameras making it look like they were fighting on a disco ceiling. I mean I could still follow the action it was just slightly annoying.

Yeah I saw it in IMAX but that in itself isn't the problem. The action scenes had too many cuts (lazy editing) and more than that, were just plain dull.

I found it a bit eh. I liked it, but found the comedy/serious balance a bit too far to comedy for my liking. Actions had pretty much no consequences, the one person that died was solely for comedic value (that was pretty funny though I admit)

Your mileage may vary.

Keaton owned his role. Spiderman actor was sort of all over the place. He was great when excited or enthusiastic (like at the start), but kind of boring when emo, mopey or engaging in stereotypical high school bullshit . The chicks were nice to look at I guess?

yeah, spiderman has always been like that. kindof the joke if you think about it too long. its like the Flash. he WAY WAY outclasses his villains. only Electro is on Spidermans power level.

Durability is way above human. Even bullets would not be fatal most of the time. minor regen. (mostly for healing cracked bones, or bruises, cuts.) as well as able to handle his own super strength.
His strength is way into superhuman. like hulk/the thing strong.
At the same time, super human speed as well though.
and a precog.
with super tech for webs, etc..

Spiderman soloing the Avengers, or Xmen during crossovers isn't that normal cliche. he really could.

I saw it in IMAX which only ever lets you choose 3D if it is available, so that's probably part of why I disliked the action scenes. Like Keg said, too many cuts and overall frenetic pace that I didn't feel needed to be there. One of the earlier fight scenes I actually thought to myself, "Are my 3D glasses smudged?" because the whole scene was more of a blur than anything else.

Which, to be honest, is exactly how a fight with Spider-Man would *actually* look, because of his OP-ness, but we don't need it in a movie.

As Caliane said, Spider-Man is legit one of the baddest motherfuckers in the Marvel universe. They kind of off-handedly showed that in Civil War with stuff like when he stopped Winter Soldier's punch cold and then just twisted his metal arm sideways to look at it because he thought it was so cool. And then when WS threw a door or panel or something at Spidey, suddenly it is hurtling back at WS with the quip, "I think you lost something!" Spider-Man in the prime of his power could have owned almost everyone in that airport fight scene. All at once. He'd have difficulty with people like Vision and Scarlet Witch for obvious reasons, but if he had spidey sense they also couldn't really do much to hurt him either. I mean, Scarlet Witch is a tough one depending upon who writes her and what powers she is displaying, but other than that, all of the "normal fighters", even Cap or Black Panther, have almost no real chance, regardless of how they rank on the Batman Scale of Martial Arts. You simply cannot even touch Spider-Man if he is trying.

That's all very insightful. I guess you never see him quite as often with people you think are as powerful as you do with his group of villains. You don't think of Sandman, Scorpion, or Vulture quite like you perceive Black Panther, Cap, or even people like Fantastic 4. I remember growing up, the Marvel (I believe 1991) power cards, TV shows, etc. always kinda shafted Spiderman in his rankings but he seemed, as you guys said, in crossovers seemed to hold his own with just about anyone.

Spiderman chooses to deal with burglars, robbers, thugs, etc. so I guess it's easy to low-ball his abilities but he steps into other universes and messes people up.

Comparing super hero power levels is always an exercise in futility because they are always inconsistent based on how powerful the plot requires them to be.

No, he's not Hulk strong and he's not soloing the Avengers outside of really shitty writing. Thor would curbstomp him easily

hulk is literally the strongest character in the marvel universe i'm not sure why the fuck other characters are continuously compared to him and "hulk strong" is just like, the entry level strength of the mega bad asses or something.

Hulk's strength is literally limitless.

If Hulk survives long enough to the next Big Crunch he could hop on Galactus' back, if he's angry enough he could turn around, grab all matter and energy of existence which is now shrunk down to the size of a marble and then beat galactus to death with it.

His strength is not limited to whatever pussy ass writer decides to limit his strength to. It is literally limitless.
stop comparing any other comic book character's strength to the Hulk.

Mid tier movie for sure, hate that they seem to have written him at a much lower power level and sans spidey sense but whatever I guess. Also, really questioned the casting choice for MJ and how they wrote the character.

I just got home from seeing this. I'm floored, that was a great movie. I didn't care about Peter being interested in the black chick. She was attractive, so it makes sense. The plot of the movie was pretty damn good as well. I completely understood the logic behind the Vulture. And he was such a great villain for Spider-Man in this movie. Plus, the vulture suit was pretty awesome. They made it feasible for a guy in a flying bird suit to make sense.

I'm very pleased with this movie. I was entertained from start to finish. Plus, Holland played a GREAT Peter!

I only have one minor complaint, but even that is extremely tiny.
I wasn't a fan of the fact that they made the nerdy not white or not black (I don't really know what she was) chick into MJ. It didn't really make sense. It was social justice for the sake of being social justice. It didn't add ANYTHING to the story. In fact, it takes away a bit. MJ is supposed to be a model type. Ravishing red head that everyone lusts after, and this girl clearly was not. Nor can she ever grow into that as an adult. *shrugs*

That's a pretty minor complaint, though. The movie was awesome.
