no it doesn't.... not even in the same stratosphere.DB's popularity rivals Hogan's, Stone Cold's and the Rock's at their peak.
the issue here is that the "smart" fans have gotten the idea that they have control of the shows and the booking. the WWE set a terrible precedent last year when they changed course and brought in Bryan to win at Wrestlemania. the fact of the matter is Daniel Bryan has the charisma of a dead horse. the "YES" chant is what got him over with the fans and it's losing steam. the "smart" fans are a vocal minority and their actions are toxic to the product as a whole. the "smart" fans want to see Daniel Bryan be the face of the company on the account that Bryan is great from a technical standpoint and most of them have been watching him come up through the indies. however, he has none of the attributes that help the WWE draw in new fans. it's worth noting that the WWE's fanbase has a very high turnover rate. as a result, they need to constantly appeal to new fans to replenish their fan base. the average person is not going to be drawn to someone like Daniel Bryan. for one, the notion that he could pose a threat to someone like Brock Lesnar is completely laughable. more importantly, he doesn't have the personality or charisma to win over new fans to the product. factor in that Bryan is injury prone and already 33 years old and it's clear that it isn't in the WWE's best interest to try to make them the face of their product. unfortunately, the vocal minority that is the "smart" fans has grown thanks to the internet and has the ability to turn shows to shit if their favorite doesn't get booked to win on a particular night. honestly makes a wonder if there is a long term future for the WWE product.
