Cruiserweight tourney starts today. Hmm. How the fuck are they going to do a tournament when it's all pre-determined? It's pro wrestling. King of thebRing is different since everyone is in on it. These are all indy wrestlers. Maybe they all just look at this as tryout for NXT.

First episode of the Cruiserweight Classic was last night. I thought it was a really good show.
-Mauro and Daniel Bryan are really good on commentary, which I'm sure is helped by Vince not telling them what to say. It was weird to hear them actually mention Cedric Alexander working for Ring of Honor and Kota Ibushi having wrestled Chris Hero in the past. Plus hearing them call moves correctly was refreshing (Gran Metalik won with a variation of Chris Sabin's old Cradle Shock finisher, which Mauro called "a fireman's carry into a fisherman buster"). It's kinda nice to hear guys on commentary genuinely marking out when they see a Shooting Star Press off the ring apron to the floor.
-Ibushi and Alexander were the only two I was even somewhat familar with, and they both had good matches. Ibushi's opponent, Sean Maluta, another Samoan, looked impressive aside from almost killing himself trying to somersault out of the ring. Alexander's opponent, some French guy (can't remember his name) looked really strong too. Lots of crisp suplexes.
-Only one match out of the four was a letdown, and that seemed to be more because of both guys being tentative and skittish. (Lun vs. Daivari).
-Presentation was pretty slick too. They added some little things like a pre-match handshake and a post match arm raise for the winner.

Mauro is really awesome calling matches. They really need to get him in on the ppv's. Sounds like with the brand split he'll have a chance with each show having its own ppv schedule.
Maluta probably surprised me the most. He was working with one of the best and they both put on a great match. I definitely holy shit'd at the flip out of the ring. Good lord that could have been bad.
I really enjoyed the presentation as well. It all came together to make the CWC seem as legit as possible. I already wouldn't mind seeing this type of tournament setup in WWE proper for a championship or something.

Was in attendance. The crowd was completely dead for that match. Definitely brought out the "This is Boring" chants. The working the knee to put on the sharpshooter thing was average AT BEST during the mid 90s with Bret Hart. No one gives a shit about that anymore. Match was boring as fuck. Of course it came after the KO/Sami match so it was destined to flop. Nevertheless, as a supporter of thunder things Lynch I hope she move on from that feud.
