They're not investing, but the original Kickstarter was crowdfunding. The JOBS Act did have some SEC and/or FTC regulation for crowdfunding scams if I recall correctly.

It is possible to transfer a purchased ship, or package containing ships, to another account one time only. That doesn't make it able to be regulated as an investment vehicle.

Anyone else buying in is ALSO crowdfunding there is no differentation between the two groups when it comes to money.

Like I said IF any of what this guy said is true there are some serious concerns.

I doubt Derek Smart is jealous of anyone, his ego is too large for that. He does love attention however and will drag any argument out to extreme lengths, even by internet standards.

It's also worth pointing out that for all his many faults, the guy isn't stupid. You just have to filter out all the self-glorification BS in anything he says and see if there's anything left worth reading.

I don't think he feels he failed because of his own limitations, it was because (apparently) no computer was able to encompass his mighty vision. I really don't believe this is some fit of petty jealousy, Smart is perfectly capable of making a fool of himself without that. He just loves to argue, or rather to state why he is right and everyone else is wrong.

Well, if he wanted attention, he's getting it. I wonder if CR will respond to any of this? I think his best move would be to ignore it. I can see Derek's rage when he doesn't get acknowledged - he actually posted this shit on FB and said he unfriended CR. A lot of people are speculating that he applied for Mayberry's position and flipped his shit when CR gave it to his brother Erin. Erin, btw has been running Foundry 42 in the UK and they've, by most accounts, been the most productive of the CIG studios.

A mod on the Star Citizen forums pointed out something I found interesting. There's over 20 links to Derek's own game in his post, and that he's just posting something very controversial in the hopes of getting hits and possibly people buying his game...essentially just marketing plot.

Anyways it's entertaining drama in an otherwise quiet lull in the Star Citizen news.
