Really? WoW charges $25 for mounts, plus $15 subs, so I don't see what the big deal is. At least you can get zen through the exchange of dilithium which you can also earn in multiple ways in game, so eventually you can get it for "free" just have to put in a couple weeks of work for it, depending on how many characters you're running. Unless you're looking for a ship that you can't get anywhere else in the game like the new andorian ships, ok buy from the store, otherwise the fleet ships have slightly better stats anyways. They have one of the better f2p models out there imho.I played this a bit with a new character and then, once I got the new systems straight, played my level 45 and got to 50 in a matter of like 90 mins. Once there I realized why 45-50 was so incredibly fast : there are zero level 50 ships you can get without paying cash or having a fleet etc.
"Well played" I think to myself and browse the store to see what ship looks cool figuring I'll plunk a couple bucks down and get one. Finally pick one out and go to load up some in-game currency figuring that 2500 Zen ~ $5 or so. Nope. 2500 Zen = $25. "Twenty five bucks for a single ship?!?!" I exclaim and promptly log out.
Max level becomes a resource grind. You'll mostly be running special task force (STF) missions, fleet missions (if you're in a fleet) and grinding daily missions (PvE and PvP). It's actually a benefit to keep your number of alts low, since there's the grind as soon as you hit max level. I have like 10 characters, since there used to be not much to do at level 50 I ended up rolling alts. Now they've added a bunch of long advancement grinds and I'm down to playing 2-3 characters semi-regularly.I'm actually enjoying this. I'm not sure how much play value I'll get at max level, but right now, it's fun.
Mirror universe is fun. I"m a sucker for the red alerts for the borg encounters too.Check the calendar events once you reach level 10. Ignore everything else while your levelling except for the Mirror Universe invasion. It will become an option to queue for at the right time and its double xp + early game fun. Its available for an hour and my advice is to queue up for it as fast as you can during that power hour. My record is 11 runs i think, and that was with an experienced group mass pulling / aoeing.
I've been spending a ton of time in the Borg warzones. Fun, and a great way to get space gear.Mirror universe is fun. I"m a sucker for the red alerts for the borg encounters too.
I'm a sucker for Borg in general though.
The full game is like 12-15 gigs. It seems to install really fast from Steam.Donno if it's been asked - how large is the DL and installation? Thinking of getting my TNG fix, but don't want another 'The Secret World'-ish DL monster for a little single player enjoyment. What's the word on the street, Trekkies?
