Are you forgetting all the episodes in Voyager with the Vidiians harvesting people's organs, skin, etc because of the Phage? That one episode where everyone's favourite, Neelix, had his lungs removed was pretty dark.

And George Constanza cured them all. The episode with Fear personified is defeated utterly by Janeway. Dark themes in some episodes doesn't change the overall tone.

Turned this off permanently after meeting the "Romulan Battle Nuns, the best fighters in the galaxy" and Romulan Space Legolas.

Seriously, who the fuck writes this shit?

We don’t know why yet, but apparently it has to do with some “truth” she saw.

The vulcan federation security chick probably mind melded with her and revealed the Zhat Vash secret.

There was that whole talk about conspiracy that extended beyond the Zhat Vash and the Tal Shiar and into Star Fleet. Clearly she's one of the converted.

that episode made me stop watching voyager. Not because it was dark, but because it was so god damn stupid.

I watched it when it aired with my girlfriend. Whenever someone said lung, I'd poke her in the tit. About five minutes into that game she started smacking me.

It was a fun night, but god damn I'm pretty sure screamfeeder wrote that one.

Unfortunately "stupid" is one of the major themes of that show. The Vidiians were a major source of conflict in the first couple seasons of the show to then just get completely hand-waved. It's such a weird line of dialogue to write to then be delivered by a distracting one-time guest star in an episode that doesn't have any weight or impact going forward.

She did basically "out smart" Fear, but I don't know if that really made the overall tone not dark. Maybe I'm a pessimist or something but only thing I thought of even after she "wins" is that out of who knows how many of that species that went under "hibernation" like 2 lived? Bang up job by them working out the bugs before going under.

Voyager destroys this trash Kurtzman shit. I watch Vpyager and I see star trek instantly, Picard is a whimsical fantasy from Patrick Stewart's head. We loved him in TNG but he abandoned it and transformed into someone simply uninspiring.

I recently watched through DS9- I do not remember this scene. nice

BBC America has been playing large blocks of episodes Monday-Tuesdays. I'm talking like 36 hours straight where they repeat a 12 episode block 3 times. I'm sure I could just Netflix it but dvr is great.

I could watch DS9 clips for days.

The Ferengi were the real standouts for me. The storylines involving them plus the look into their culture etc. While they were often played for laughs it was still a great allegory for society in general, especially when you had scenes like this.

Actually of all the cultures explored in DS9 the one that seemed this least developed was, quite ironically, Bajoran.

The Ferengi are a good example of turning a failure into a success - and that was mostly DS9 and Quark that did so... they were meant to be the "big new bad guys" in TNG that were just so counter the federation in everything that their clashing was unavoidable.

But well, that did not turn out and we got back to Klingon's and then Cardassians and The Borg, so it worked out.

The Bajorans we only really got to exp through crying about occupation and their religion - and I guess thats fine as they were supposed to be all religious and the entire planet run and followed that religion so- we really have nothing but, that is who they are, as who they are.

At the end of DS9, I felt for the Cardassian people more than Bajoran people... because Cardassians people would stand back up, dust themselves off, make the entire thing a cautionary tale and move on... but Kira and her people, no, crying about it forever.

Who is the actress playing the Vulcan? She looks awfully damn familiar.
Bertila Damas looks like she is mostly got bit roles, but interestingly she appeared on voyager as 3 of 9
