Section31 does like exceptionally gifted/talented people and will covertly try to acquire them. DS9 they tried to recruit Bashir for that reason, and even when he didn’t want to directly help them, they manipulated him to do what they wanted anyways (the whole Romulan plot).

That being said, not sure what value a Terran Empire mirror universe person brings lol

How else can they make everything fake and gay?

Honestly this will probably just end up being the final nail in the coffin for Discovery trek. SNW has been distancing itself from Discovery - outside of a brief mention in the pilot, they’ve more or less ignored Disco

Things moved too fast as modern shows do

The “lets recap our main character thus far” voice over was… cringy AF and written by chatGTP version beta 1.

I will write more, mostly to myself later… but it wasn’t TREK or even NU-TREK.

That Asian space garbage collector movie was a better generic sci-fi even if it ran long.

If you want to watch good Star Trek you have 2 options.

1: ToS and ToS Movies

2: TNG-DS9-Voyager

That's it. Maybe some of Enterprise or one of the TNG/Abrams movies is good, but there's not enough for it to be worth it.

Lower Decks and Strange New Worlds and Orville (Trek adjacent) is also pretty good, SNW is the only one ongoing

next Star Trek TV series is StarFleet Academy, starring one of the most annoying characters in Discovery Tilly

i've watched about 3/4ths of the movie over 3 days, just such a baffling movie that clearly was made in the heyday of "we need content to stream, greenlight everything".

it feels like a shitty parody Oceans 8 (the bad one) mixed with a rip off Fast and Furious/MI. It doesn't feel like Star Trek AT ALL. The mirror universe stuff barely is touched on and would be incomprehensible to anyone who is not very familiar with deep trek lore. There are no clever easter eggs or anything here, just "this chick is from the alternate universe ok thats it"

its not the worst thing I've ever seen, shit like Madame Web or Argylle are infinitely worse but this is pretty close. It keeps trying to do action scenes and they are literally the worst things on screen, just non stop flashing, strobing, zooming, and cuts like you are at a rave. My personal pet peeve is that they keep using modern day slang, i despise writers who are too stupid to understand their slang will not survive a decade much less centuries. I shit you not, one character says "does it come with fries"

its wild its only 90 mins long, after 15 mins you feel like you've been watching crap for 2 hours. I watch 15 mins then I watch an episode of TNG lol

the one good thing about this movie is it makes all previous Trek movies look way better. Even the shitty one where Picard is riding dune buggies. The only interesting talking point about this movie is what is worse - Obi Wan, Boba Fett, or this

I do not care enough to try and look up some YT about it - but from my /general/ trekdom knowledge - all the "Easter eggs" where in the beginning.

The half black/white guy is TOS and never seen again - so there is that.

The Bald Girl who can make anyone wanna sex her is the race of the other bald girl from The Motion Picture. She was attractive and all that so OBVIOUSLY she is going to be the only one to get blatantly killed in the most descriptive way out of all the "deaths" that are barely even on screen - but hot white girl, BYE BYE DISINTEGRATE IN PAINFUL SLOW TORTURE... do not worry some dudes in robot cosplay will talk about pronouns and gender dysphoria *wink wink* MODERNS AUDIENCES


The "poison" what the heck, glossed over like, what... then its a main plot point? TWICE AFTER? WHAT

Also...there is an entire race of super microscopic sentient beings that breed super exponentially in the thousands and have tech to literally kill/take over anything and everything and... THINGS STILL EXIST THAT ARE NOT THEM? Just like discovery and the spore drive, they invent universe breaking things then just - poof -

Again, this would be fine in a non-established universe, non-trek world- it would have been a decently fun sci-fi flick - but as a trek, no.

this movie really tried to validate that our Discovery girl power girl doomed the alternate universe humans to slavery from ToS->DS9 - because the Terran empire was mean :-( and needed strong black woman to save everyone by toppling the empire all by herself - now the rest is jut implied...because...well humans are slaves after that and before that were the dominate (BUT EVIL!!!!!!!!11one11!!!)

So they tried to show just how much evil it was and she was etc. etc. as a kind of "well this will make the wiki entery better) kinda way.
