How are we still having the discussion of cosmetic bullshit vs obvious as fuck advantage bullshit? Tons of games nickel and dime the fuck out of you for cosmetics, but unless you're a little SJW commie it probably doesn't trigger you that the orc next to you is riding my little change a color pony. Also Hearthstone actually has a completely level playing field in Arena. Plus it's a collectible card game so it's foundation revolves around spending money to get an advantage.

It is a collectable card game. Except they don't say, "This pack is guaranteed to have X number of epics, and Y number of rares." The game? Fuck they don't give a shit about the game, what they care about is the meta-game. The elitist bullshit that goes along with it, and how having a fat wallet trumps all.

IMHO after putting some good hours on this game, the trooper mode is complete garbage. It is like the took Battlefield gaming back 10 years, but slapped some pretty graphics on it. Generalized, but hopefully you get the picture. Lots of issues.
HOWEVER, the Starfighter assault is A++. The gameplay, the feel, the constant AI chatter of your squadrons, PvP mixed in with PvE it just really shines.
1.) Hero ships are not OP
2.) When you die from a player, you come back with a revenge target on said player, nice bright orange target. Makes it easy to sift out said person and come after him with gun blazings.
3.) Flip side of that, if you are on a nice kill streak that means you are earning it, because you are now lit up by X players who have you highlighted to kill upon respawning.
4.) The objectives are just straight up fun, and some maps are challenging to navigate in, but can also be used to your advantage
5.) Flight controls feel very precise on keyboard and mouse
My only negative is the collision detection needs to be fine tuned a bit. There have been times where I am skimming the surface of a star destroyer, and I swear I have clearance but still hit it and die. I have adjusted accordingly, but my visual should match what actually happens in game. I have switched to solely playing StarFighter mode, they found a gem in this, not going to say it was worth the 70 bucks I spent on it, but this mode is very fun. Gives me a nice game to play when not farming Mythic or M+ for upcoming 7.3.5 patch in WoW.

I finished the story line mode this weekend and was plinking around in the starfighter assault. Honestly the game was worth the money just for the starfighter stuff and the story line missions were fun although it is not a super long campaign I enjoyed it. At least in the starfighter mode there is just so much shit going on from so many different directions that even the hero ships are not OP. When you are ducking and diving through star destroyers and fields of debris having a bunch of epic cards does not save you from face planting into a rock or structure. The controls are really good and flying like a bad out of hell shooting shit inside an enemy station/ship while dodging the guy on your back feels really satisfying.
All the loot box drama stuff aside the game itself is pretty damn fun.

also be sure to try out the arcade mode, its the right side box on the play mode. i really enjoyed that too, you get scenarios like be darth vader and attack the ice base on Hoth and you have to kill X people in under 4 mins. Its easy (at least at the start, probably gets harder?) but I find it relaxing and fun. You don't need to worry about unlocks for it either, everything is open albeit not star cards but its PVE so no worries about the AI having too many loot crates. Should be able to access this in trial mode.

This has been my experience. The starfighter mode is lots of fun. The campaign has been fun so far at about an hour in and I like the multi-player. I haven't experienced any game breaking bugs outside the occasional matchmaking funkiness. My complaints are that the progression needs to be sped up, grouping with your buddies in games needs to be easier and I should be able to jump over walls that are knee high.

They are there in the galactic 40 v 40 fights. But the thing is, you cant get epic cards from crates, you need to craft them. I've played a weekend and crafted many cards up to blue. (Not high enough level for epic) Only epic cards I have seen is the grenades. So they have level reqs on them, meaning you have to play the game to get epic cards regardless of how much cash you drop. Which was turned off anyway. You can also craft any card you don't have, which I have done as well.
The game is fucking gorgeous and the gun play is solid. The ship combat is fun as he'll as are the other modes like 20v20 and 8v8.
As far as the heroes destroying shit, well they are fucking superman vs humans. It looks unbalanced, and it is, but it should be. Also plebs are not getting 8k battlepoints to get them. Usually good players farm bp till the end of match, spawn heroes, then push or defend with them. You also get something like 300 bp if you're defeated by one. There is other I'm shit you can get for 2000 bp like the rocket trooper or the counterpart that can rack up points in a hurry.
Anyways loving this game, it's fun as he'll and best thing is I have all week off.
