This whole, it's only gambling if there's monetary value thing is stupid. If I set up a free to play video game based on a slot machine where you start off with 5 tokens and you get a game over when you run out of tokens... And all you need to do is start a new game for 5 more tokens...

The more and more I think about it, the more and more I come to the realization that Disney should pull the license. So, I think SW : The Online Casino version is how I'm going to represent this "game", until Disney does so.

I mean as long as regulation only goes as far as companies must state clearly that they are charging for certain contents inside the game other then the base price of the game, I'm fine.
However, if this turns into (and it probably will) some convoluted mess of regulation where companies have to jump through hoops to get licensing then I say no thanks. Licensing just equals bigger corporation advantages.

No, they need to have the black mark upon the box. They need to put on there it's fucking PAY TO GAMBLE FOR GAME COMPONENTS. So everyone and their mother will not buy it for their kids.

Well reskinning is quite easy. Skin wrap everything in 3dsmax.(Kinda like a copy/paste of skinning while trying to interpolate.) Most character artist can do it and use this to quickly test model in-game. The whole thing can be scripted. Some coworker use Maya and they have similar tool that are even better. It get 80% of the job done and the tweaks can be done by a proper rigger.
The issue is that loot crate give you stats bonus. Stats bonus really take a few sec to tweak in the game designer tools. It could be a bit more complicated in engine that are not build around stats changing but I doubt it's the case for this game.

Guess enough people complained now they got some governments involved, so the government can save themselves from well themselves. This wouldn't have been attractive to any company if someone didn't throw gobs of money at it. Sorry but a "game" is not a right, have a hard time with having a government protect me from myself to provide a right to a game. It's a pirvelage.
Not a fan of the stuff in the game, but getting the government involved? I guess the old fasioned notion of "if you don't like it, don't buy it" is just that - old fashioned.
