This is a huge mistake IMO. They need to work to get back to Star Wars movies being a cultural event, and releasing 2 in 7 months won't do that one bit. Personally I think that's part of what tanked Solo, which I think is one of the most fun SW movies of all of them, it was just too close behind TLJ which was pretty divisive.Lucasfilm and Disney announced on Tuesday that two new "Star Wars" movies will be released in 2026 — one on May 22, 2026, and one on Dec. 18, 2026

You posted this like any single person involved with Star Wars right now has a fucking clue how to make it work. If they wanted to make money, they should have hired huge Star Wars geeks to write and direct the movies. They should have kept the good parts of the EU (Mara Jade, Luke's founding the school, all of the Thrawn stuff) and used that for a blueprint. Instead they thought they could use the Star Wars name as a skinsuit to push their stupid Mary Sue princess stories and are now wallowing in the destruction they willfully and knowingly brought on themselves. This is a huge mistake IMO. Same thing Marvel is suffering from in most cases...there's a few decent movies from Marvel since Endgame, but the drive to see them opening night, or at all until they are streaming, is falling off.

They have no reason to, the amount of money they make in toys, clothes, other star wars branded items, Grogu dolls, not to mention Park attendance at Hollywood Studios. Force Awakens itself brought in 5-7 billion in merchandise revenue for that movie alone.
Back a few years after Disney bought Lucas Film, Star Wars was bringing in 2-3 billion a year in merchandise/home video/etc they recouped the cost of it a long long time ago.
They need to stop making Star Wars Movies and TV, there shouldn't be any more. Make a new IP.This is a huge mistake IMO. i dodged the ep9 bullet, but i cant say the same for Boba and Kenobi. i was still interested in the OG characters. i will probably watch Ahsoka because my 2 mid 2000s crushes are in it. Rosario and Mary Elizabeth. It always makes me breath a sigh of relief when I read the barest outline of the next Star Wars movie and there isn't even a single shred of a story I'm interested in seeing. I can skip it confidently and never wonder if I missed something decent. Never saw episode 9, never saw Kenobi, never saw Book of Boba Fett..... no part of me even cares.

Does she not understand that young, old and everything inbetween women dont give a flying fuck about Star Wars and never will? No matter how many women they put in these movies they will never care. Star wasrs has always been and will contnue to be mostly a mens and boys movie. Most women, and I do say most here because of course there are always the outliers, they will never identify with a female superhero type role on the screen. This is like trying to make a romantic comedy with all guys and think that men will relate, lol. Its dumb and she does nto even know or comprehend what Star Wars audience is.Upcoming Star Wars Film Focused On Rey Will See Her Train A Female Apprentice "Destined To Emerge As The Future Leader"
A new plot synopsis has reportedly been revealed about the upcoming Star Wars film starring Daisy Ridley that was recently announced at Star Wars Celebration in April.boundingintocomics.com
Now, according to Issue 1335 of Production Weekly via ScreenRant, a new synopsis for the film has been released.
It reads, “Set roughly 15 years after Rey’s victory over Palpatine at the end of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. The sequel delves into Rey’s courageous endeavor to restore the Jedi Order, where she assumes the role of a mentor to two promising young students – a girl and a boy. As her training progresses, it becomes evident that the girl possesses extraordinary abilities, destined to emerge as the future leader.”
It should not come as a surprise that this new film would also put the focus on female characters. Kathleen Kennedy announced back in 2015 that reshaping Lucasfilm with feminism ideology was one of her priorities and was being significantly aided with the purchase of the company by The Walt Disney Company.
She said during Fortune Magazine’s Most Powerful Women Summit, “The fact that the company was bought by The Walt Disney Company has been amazing because they very much support the fact that we are trying to grow in the work force a number of women in executive positions and in all positions inside the company.”
“And with the movies that we are making and with the protagonists that we are putting in the stories. So I get a huge amount of support with that,” she continued.
She then touted, “But we have 50% of our executive team are women. And six out of eight of the people in my story group are women. And I’m sure there’s a lot of people that would be surprised that we’re making Star Wars movies and the majority of the people involved in the development of those stories are women. And I think it’s making a huge difference in the stories that we’re trying to tell.”
Ryan Reynolds would make a perfect Luke Skywalker. Jake Gyllenhal can be Obi Wan. Millie Robert Brown as Leea.Correction. We still need Luke, we DON'T need Mark Hamill. This pains me to say ,as someone for whom the character as portrayed by him was a huge influence on my life growing up (Star Wars was literally the first movie I remember seeing in a theater), but they do need a recast Luke. Someone in his early 30's probably, to properly do out Heir to the Empire and show a (recast) Leia rebuilding the republic, while a recast Luke rebuilds the Jedi order, and a recast Han bangs every chick across a Galaxy far far away until he settles for Leia.
as i have been saying though. the franchise is already ruined. its beaten into pulp. its not even recognizable anymore. KK is now going after the past. trying to Terminator the origins of the Jedi. this is basically what they did to Doctor Who when they retconned all of the doctors and established the first doctor was a black woman. the best part is she thinks nobody can see what she's doing. thankfully there is a writers and actors strike which puts all of this off for years and years or actually this was never going to happen. just busywork to make it seem like KK is working and trying to bring the best female centric content to women who give not one fuck about Star Wars other than cosplaying in sexy Leia/Padmee outfits.Does she not understand that young, old and everything inbetween women dont give a flying fuck about Star Wars and never will? So yeah, ruin this franchise and run it into the dirt so she can finally be fired and someone else can take over and make some real SW shit already. I still cant believe shes even there anymore after the last 3 fucking duds. Boggles the fucking mind how someone can still be at the helm of a 3 billion dollar franchise and ruin it like this and STILL be able to ruin it more.
