It was over TLJ script. He immediately was outraged by it.

He asked for rewrites to involve himself and Rey together during specific parts.

He was in disbelief, that after the direction of TFA, he was almost being thrown out from main cast. Re-watch TFA again, and the TFA promo and keep Finn in mind. And then watch TLJ. You'll see the problem.

TLJ was a big switch up for where everyone thought Finn would end up.

He went directly to Kennedy after working his way up the ladder and they had a huge whip the dog session. It was pretty ugly according to the leaker.

At some point he threatened to no-show production. Kennedy hit back with some threats of her own. Specifically, explaining to Boyega how unimportant he was and threatened to kill him off in TLJ. The part about Kennedy threatening to kill him off is the only specific part of the leak that stands out. Its not clear whether Boyega threatened Kennedy before or after Kennedy gut checked him. According to the leaker Boyega believed himself to be a big movie star after TFA. He thought he was the star of Star Wars-- and that's sort of the basis for the whole feud during pre-production.

Kennedy, who is still responsible for producing these movies through 2021 or so, is not apt to forget so easily.

By all accounts it was a pretty bad tantrum and John Boyega handled himself pretty poorly.

Well he was right, Finn was the main big "side kick" to Rey and in TLJ he is sideline comic relief and gets raped at the end, literally by SJW's own definitions.

Finn, Rey and Kylo all had equal time with some Poe thrown in for good measure. no way was Finn "the big star". yes he was prominent in the TFA trailer. big whoop, thats not the movie.

Shit, didn't know all that backstory. Also, while he's right to go ballistic after reading that shit script, if it was just because he wasn't featured more prominently, then this might be the only thing KK did that I agree with.

Well the big twist was definitely in the trailer it shows him igniting the lightsaber, so you're not sure if he's a force user, etc. Kind of agree with Xadion, though, him and Rey have a bit of a connection by the end of TFA. Next time we see him up and about in TLJ it's as comic relief in his bubble boy suit leaking fluid everywhere before he gets stopped by his new love interest. He may not have been "the big star" but there was a definite reduction in importance.

thats true, but it wasnt just him. Poe got fucked way worse, he got turned into a dumb wise cracking punk when in the first film he was a savvy trusted member of The Resistence. Johnson turned the movie into some kind of comedy. everyone is a nitwit in this film. even rey gets clowned several times.

Throwing a tantrum is never a good look when you're playing a disposable character, but I don't blame him for being pissed. The entire Finn/Rose arc was a giant waste of time and should have been cut.

Yeah but compare how TLJ starts for both Finn and Poe, Finn is made out to be a joke whereas Poe is at least the "bad boy wisecracking" flyboy who actually gets some shit done. Don't get me wrong, they're all shit in TLJ compared to where a decent director could have taken each character after TFA...Boyega just really got shit on (although sounds like it was mostly his own fault)

Well if the bar for "poor character" in TLJ is getting "shit on" then only captain blue hair and Leia get off without a hitch.
