I posted this in the Star Wars book thread but since they go into some Rogue One speculation over the course of it I'll post it here as well. It's a spoiler review but not an overly detailed one though if you're just not a person of the book where your Star Wars is concerned it can serve as bit of a Cliffs Notes for some of the background of the movie.

I just read they did a lot of reshoots with handheld cameras. Now I'm worried it will be full of shaky-cam bullshit. Whoever see's it before me, please report back on the existence and extent of shaky-cam scenes.

SPOILERS

there's some pretty big retcons in this movie:

the biggest being that the Empire is explicitly stated to be an organization committed to wiping out non-human lifeforms. the movie was late in production when they decided to go that angle.

it's also stated that Jedi appear in response to some need in the Universe. i.e. the force is the regulator that dishes out Jedi based on current supply/demand for them in the Universe.

Gareth Edwards did a lot of his own camera work as a supplement to the main cameras during shooting. Mostly to create a lower perspective of view in certain scenes. I haven't heard anything about shaky cam though. I have read were some of those who viewed the 28 min. sneak peak last week said that some parts had an embedded war reporter vibe to them so maybe that is where those rumors are coming from.

stupid and lame if true.. part 2 about jedi, then during ep1,2 there must have been a TON OF EVIL because there were TONS OF JEDI.... IF these things are true, its a big recon and STUPID just to be a SJW (or SJSW?)

A divine force that gifts SJWs with magic powers at birth and awards laser swords when they're older so they can battle racists when they take over the political system? Nah, that sounds like something that could only be on the internet.

How's that a retcon? How many imperial aliens did you see in the original trilogy? The EU was full of palpatine's anti-alien sentiment. People like thrawn were a notable exception.

Because nothing in the EU matters and there is nothing in the original movies that implies the Empire is really just a bunch of racists.

Too many Jedi, not enough evil, so the force creates Anakin to cull the herd.

Except for the first sentence, and things that have been said in rebels and the new canon books. But yeah, no totally you're right. Absolutely nothing to 'imply' it.

Because nothing in the EU matters ...

It doesn't matter as long as it remains simply part of the EU. They made it clear when they created the Legends designation for the EU material that they would bring individual nuggets of it back into canon. The xenophobia of the Imperial leadership has been on display in some of the new canon books as well. It's not portrayed as something that is shared by the entirety of the Imperial citizenry either. Quite the opposite.

Some initial reaction from the premier:

Positive overall but some pacing issues at certain parts of the film (which is often the result of significant editing of the original director's work). Many shots from the trailers not in the final cut (this apparently does not include the bacta tank scene. It's in the movie). Much darker in tone from what we have come to expect from a Star Wars movie.

Premier reactions aren't the best indicator of quality by any stretch, but all of the feedback I've seen so far has been extremely positive. At least we can be reasonably confident that it doesn't suck.
