If you can find the Limited Edition DVD's they have both the Special Edition cut and the original version on the bonus DVD. The original isn't remastered though and isn't pretty on a modern television.

I was tongue in cheek, but yes. 4bn is a joke for Star Wars. Anyone who thinks shit, even Microsoft wouldn't pay more is insane. He put it in the best hands he could. Beyond that he's a fucking nutjob. Yes. We've been way too hard on the guy, but the truth is his original movies weren't all that great either. It was a perfect storm of storytelling, visual arts, and music at the height of the Cold War. And we were kids...
The guy does not, nor ever did have any sort of resume that didn't include really smart people behind him. He's a hack. But we're also assholes for being so god-damned picky about everything. I never understood why people were looking for a "darker" version of ep 1-3. They were infinitely more dark than the originals. People like Plinkett are hipster retards who use their failed 4 years of film school to tear apart people who have actually succeeded in the industry.
Sort of what we do around here with MMO's. Well everything.

No one is arguing the prequels are good. I hope.
I would love someone with a fresh perspective to actually watch the original films without laughing at how bad they are. I love them. But I also love a lot of stupid shit. Lucas redid the originals but added more pew pew, and what he considered to be veteran actors as opposed to just throwing in an old Horror actor in Peter Cushing. That's the prequels. C3P0 was one of the most annoying fucking characters ever created. Ewoks? But somehow Jar-Jar is where we drew the line? Continuity? You guys nitpick the smallest fucking things, but Luke kissing his sister and all the massive retcons in the original films get totally ignored? Yeah, it's selective.
A fair analysis says we are all assholes. Doesn't make Lucas any better of a filmmaker.

But the originals, at least the first two, aren't LOL-bad. Empire usually makes the top movies lists that I've seen.
I could definitely see the prequels, or maybe even RotJ, playing on MST3K, though.

You guys give the RedLetter folk entirely too much credit and validity. They have an obvious schtick that you could apply to ANY movie and make it sound horrible. They are like the Republican party in that they appeal to our lesser traits (hate and loathing) in an attempt to gain favor with their followers. It's far easier to make a career out of hating stuff than it is by loving.
My area of expertise is music. If I wanted to invest the time and energy, I could deconstruct ANY song, whether it be by Taylor Swift, Led Zepplin, or Mozart, and make the argument that their works are piles of shit. The terrible thing is that it could be very convincing. It doesn't mean I'm right though, and I definitely wouldn't mean it, but I COULD do it. But you all are missing the very obvious point. Just referencing one of the videos posted above; RLM makes a claim about lightsaber use in the prequels being "too much" and that it takes away from the wow factor. They assert this with such authority, as if it's fact. But as with almost every single one of their claims as to why they don't like the prequels, it can all be undone with one simple phrase:
I disagree.
Or better yet:
They think lightsabers were overused. I disagree.
They think it took away from their uniqueness. I disagree.
Some of you think Lucas took away from the mystical side of the Force with Midi-Chlorians. I disagree.
Some of you think Boba Fett was totally awesomesauce. I disagree. I think he was a bitch, and died like a bitch.
