Sorta like how Palp himself is more force lightning and shit, not a saber fighter.
Except he effortlessly kills two of the masters sent to arrest him as soon as the fight starts, pretty easily kills the third as Anakin gets there, and is clearly playing possum against Windu in an effort to turn Anakin. Before that (chronologically) he beats Darth Maul and his brother pretty easily too. Palpatine is basically the Batman of Star Wars.

Hayden was, imo- good in Outcast and it basically showed that he could act decent, could do good sword play and not just be an agnsty teen that he was written into.

He is along Nick Cage, in the setup he and Cage work well and Cage actually does not overact... then the movie proceeds without Cage- till he gets to burst in at the end and his Cages character then becomes suddenly Nick Cage! Lol

Well sure and Yoda is his light side counterpart. I never said Palp wasn't violent or formidable, just that they portrayed himonscreenin a different fashion from the swashbuckling Jedi. I would imagine Yoda as the Gandalf to Palpatine's Sauruman...or something.

Point being, Yoda with a lightsaber flipping around like a tiny martial artist looked dumb. Yoda manipulating the living force to thwart foes without lifting a claw in hand to hand combat would be bad ass and more in character. Neither of them should have been using sabers, but Lucas was hell bent on depicting that shit and it was a mistake.

Yeah to me Yoda was always "seen in my mind" as a 100% force character as his physical self was small and weak, so if he was to saber fight the saber would have been held or "used" by the force rather than himself or maybe some force created eq-like shadowman that Yoda used.

Before the movie came out and they teased a yoda fight scene I was certain he was going to use the force to fight with the lightsaber, like have it float around and shit like an animated Blade. When I saw the cgi ninja flip fest I was disappointed

Well he's using the force to augment his physical capabilities like other Jedi do when they do the crazy jumps and bursts of speed. His capabilities in that regard are just an entire magnitude greater than other Jedi, which they have to be to compensate for his decrepit body. I have no real objection to Yoda being able to fight like that, it just looked like utter shit in the movie. They also toned down the gummy bear bullshit substantially for his fight with Palpatine, he still jumped over Palpatine repeatedly but he didn't bounce all over the room for no reason. Also it was generally forbidden for Jedi to use the force to directly attack, even in the EU.

A Jedi uses the Force for knowledge and defense, never for attack.
He obviously broke the spirit of this rule when he threw the floating dealie back at Palpatine in the Senate Chamber, but he was desperate.

From watching the trailer for Outcast I didn't really notice any notable improvement in Hayden's acting. Even if there is, it's been ten fucking years since RotS, hardly an apt comparison.

I just wish people would stop trying to make excuses for this guy. His line deliveries in the prequels were some of the worst in the history of cinema. The primary fault of Lucas was casting him based on his height, hair and eye color and the fact that he was pretty much an unknown.

The simple fact that Hayden is currently starring in a movie with Nick Cage (I actually enjoy Cage) at this point in Cage's career says pretty much all there is to say about his acting ability.

I am not making an excuse for the dribble that was presented in ep 2 and 3... just saying outcast was an actual enjoyable movie (if you like the setting, genre etc.) and his acting did not take away from it like in sw

In one of the books they talked about Yoda fighting, and I remember getting the impression that he was a minimalist in his movement. That since he was so small, he could cover himself better by just moving his lightsaber fractions of an inch. For attack, I imagined him just closing the gap and getting under a normal sized opponents legs. I honestly don't know how much of that was in the book versus my own tactical thinking, but that's what I was expecting from the yoda fight and I would have been happy with it. Like Draegan said, a big part of why I enjoyed the whirlygig yoda was the shock of it, but I'm happy with it just the same, even if the episode 3 fight was better.

a_skeleton_02, if you were looking for opinions, none of it will go up in value. Star wars knows their shit has collector value and they will over-produce everything. People like you might create an artificial shortage by buying everything in sight, but in the end, that's just going to cause disney to make more product and you'll be left holding the bag. I mean, you know, other than the credit card scam you mentioned.

my nephew and I made the rounds today, its his first SW collecting experience since he's only 8. We had a blast but most places were completely wiped out minutes after opening. We both managed to snag all the bad side characters though. Kohl's of all places was the best, we were the only people in there when they opened and only went there because my sister got a SW specific coupon from them in email this morning. Anyways, it was awesome to see the excitement in my nephew experiencing the madness for the first time.

Picked up a BB-8 after thinking I would pass on it, the constant media stories about it are driving hype to the extreme I had the option to buy the last one so I did. I got a couple "first Empire stormtrooper" figures from target they are going to go up in price when people want to army build stormtroopers for displays.

I picked up a pair of the die cast Disney exclusives and the exclusive Disney lightsaber.

I am 0-4 for stores selling the $200 light saber they didn't even get them in stock. Was planning on buying two one to keep and one to resell.

I went to the local Targets after work and they had a lot of junk... junk. Stuff of the kind that sits on the shelf until it gets marked down as clearance at the end of the season. I managed to get exactly one figure (Tie fighter pilot) from the first and I picked up a Black Series special forces tie fighter that I found buried underneath some Darth Taters at the second. For as much in-store display material as they had the inventory was pathetic. I asked the one Target employee if they had been cleaned out first thing and he said they only had a couple boxes of figures even come in and that people who wanted figures left very unhappy. The biggest thing for them was the Disney Infinity toys which apparently they had a ton of but managed to blow through. The number of pegs for Infinity figures outnumbered the regular kind by a factor of 10:1
