I love SC1 and it will always be in my top 3 games all time. From what I have played for LoV campaign, they did a nice job with it. It is fun. Though, it does feel like "too little, too late."
Blizzard really gives zero fucks about this franchise anymore. There has been no marketing or excitement for this launch. I barely realized or remembered that I had pre-purchased months ago and was only reminded in the past day or two by this message board that the game was coming out. Go to any of the major gaming sites that get eye balls and there is barely a whisper about this game.
Back in 2010, they were still the RTS and competitive game scene heavy weights. Dota 2 was in it's infancy, League was released just a year before and hardly had the footprint it does now. Blizzard had the players, the attention, and the excitement and they squandered it all. Even in a market, where they are the last RTS left standing, nobody seems to care.
I load up the game last night and there were 30,000 people online... release day... in the culminating final expansion to a 3-game epic. What a fucking embarrassment.
There are so many strategic decisions they got wrong with this franchise. They broke one game into three. They worked off a five year timeline when it should have been three. They allowed the multiplayer to get stale, by playing it safe. Their mod scene never took off.
I can't help but just be depressed and saddened by how Blizzard has allowed this to all play out.
