On the other hand, he's a nerd who has done nothing in life but play starcraft. What does he even know about being "paid well".
I think being paid around 50k (definitely 5 figures) per year for playing a game can be universally considered as "paid well". I imagine his stream also makes a decent bonus.

Innovation will get Terrans nerfed, he made Roro look like a foreigner. I just hope he gets to play TvP in the final, because his TvZ looks unbeatable ATM.

Here's the sad truth, what's he going to do now? He has virtually no life skills since he's spent a majority of his adult life playing video games for a living and he's throwing away his breadwinner. Some of these dudes are smart and are either pursuing degrees now or even during their career, but I don't believe Idra did. I mean, what kind of job can this dude hope to get? Flip burgers? Walmart? Sure, he can cast, but to be quite honest nobody really wants to listen to him. Listen to his voice when he talks, he doesn't have the voice or confidence to make me want to listen to him. I listen to people like Husky because he has a very commanding voice, he's upbeat, he's funny, and he's engaging. Idra will have that weird lisp and call people "faggots" and "fucks" the whole game.

I just don't know what someone in his position would do. Unless he's saved a whole lot of his winnings and plans to go to college, he might be in trouble here.

Stephano quitting to focus on studies is a good personal call, even if people like to see him play I think it's for the best. I think Suppy is in pre-med while he is playing. I believe a lot of dudes are just focusing on esports though, and not sure that will be sustainable. I mean, look at the skill you need to play this at the top. When SC2 dries up where will they go?

The dirty little not-so-secret in the SC scene is you can make more money being a personality and caster than you can as a middling professional. It is far less stressful and you have no burden to perform. IdrA will do fine because he's a very, very good analytical caster and already extraordinarily famous in the eSport scene. I'd think he's probably poised to make more money by switching into casting/personality instead of being a full time player.

I wouldn't mind a Hellbat nerf. I don't really use the unit in general and they are an absolute nightmare in TvT. It makes going bio against mech nearly a joke unless you completely outclass your opponent.

Didn't realize the commentators could make more, but I guess it makes sense. Depending on where they live, 50k isn't really a whole lot though. In most places that would get you an apartment and food and that's about it. I realize he probably lived in EG's house for awhile.

The 50k is his pay only I believe, I don't think it includes his stream money, which should be quite a lot with how many viewers he had but don't know how often he streamed. A lot of people can live decently off a 5k viewers daily stream though, especially if it's several hours a day. It's basically a good job, if you can get the viewers, which is obviously limited, there's hundreds of people streaming SC2, LoL or Dota, but only a handful of each that get more than 200viewers.

I'm sure Idra made really good money despite not actually being that good. He had a good gig then and he'll have a good gig moving forward. Which is somewhat funny because I'm sure most Code B Zergs in Korea make zero money (only have their living expenses paid) but are far better players than Idra. His remarks being good does not directly translate into real world dollars are entirely true. Actual discussion on reddit starcraft is always buried and the latest esports drama is always highly upvoted which is a pretty good litmus test for what the community is interested in seeing.

While I don't redact my statement I don't think healing Hellbats was the big issue here. The issue seemed more like Roro tookforeverto build spores to defend the drops. It is kind of like in TvP where your first goal of defending a drop is killing the medivac. Roro was just building Roaches trying to deal with the direct threat (the Hellbat) instead of dealing with the thing that was the true problem.

-edit-

Oh yeah Symbol showed how to deflect Hellbat drops much, much better. Spores and a roaming pack of queens targetting the medivac over hellions.

Digging this new evolution of TvZ. Not sure why I didn't connect to make tanks out of my tech fact after researching drilling claws but it seems to work out pretty well. Once you get 6 geysers going BioMine you start floating gas so that is a pretty good gas sink. Saw both Bomber and Innovation do this.

Came here to say the same exact thing Tenks said. I don't think Hellbats are a problem and I think Roro could have done some different moves to defend much better. The only thing I could see them changing would be what Zaphid said and that's taking their biological tag off so they can't be healed by medivacs.

It's nice to see Tanks getting used again, they are so much more fun to watch imo. Plus, imo anyway, once zerg starts to get use to mine play they should only get better and better playing against it, by either sending a few units up to activate the mines, or by just having overseers in their army comp to basically shut down any mines.

Innovation deserves to win this GSL. Then again, watch something stupid happen like it being a ZvZ in the finals...

I think mines and tanks have their own places in their own respects. The issue with mines is the seemingly randomness factor. Sometimes they kill a ton of shit sometimes they kill what seems like nothing. Most the time you can't even explain why. Tanks are a lot more predictable in that fashion. However once you get the claws upgrade for mines you can start using the mines much more offensively. You walk up, burrow and then they go boom. They require far less babysitting than tanks and also remove the "oh shit I was unsieged and lost" factor out of the game.

The only issue I see with making tanks out of a tech fact instead of just researching claws, floating off and making a reactor is that the tanks won't have +1. Which means they won't 1-shot lings. But they'll still be effective against banes. My personal issue is I keep my bio on 2 and my mines on 3. But in TvT I keep my tanks on 3 (and on 3 in WoL) so I'll have to train my brain to put mines on 4 probably if that does become the new standard. I also loved Bomber's build in Star Station. I believe he lost but that CC first, rax, CC, 3 rax is really cool. I could see me stealing that and giving it a go a few times.

Huk out of WCS AM to 15 year old terran...

It's not like he even played stupid as he often does, maybe a bit too greedy on Akilon and too safe on Bel'Shir, but still, how the mighty have fallen.

Wait, really? Stephano and Thorzain both played pretty sloppy. This is an atrocious group talent wise. No way Stephano can play like that and beat ForGG or Lucifron.
