I'm giving up on LOTV Brutal. It would be fun if I had the tools to properly counter their end game units, but throwing mass 1-1 stalkers against top tier 2-2 units and hybrids 4 missions in a row is getting a bit weary.

Prologue was fun. Then getting set back to zealots stalker and not even warpgate only was not.
Who the hell uses Stalkers on any difficulty, much less brutal?

Eh that's a lot of micro. I prefer the fatter ass dragoons have, especially when combined with repair beam. I suppose Stalkers would be a little better for the first 1/3rd of the campaign though.

Oh, yeah, that mission was a bitch on brutal, I assume you're talking about mission 2. It's amazing how much harder some of the mastery achievements are on hard though, compared to just completing the mission normally on brutal, especially the timed ones. The timed one where you control Artanis and Kerrigan apparently requires pretty precise exploitation of the AoE damage he does when he resurrects, so I'm gonna have to practice that one.

Yeah that mission is the other one where I just said fuck it. I'm not playing WoW for precisely this kind of instant-gib bullcrap

Hm I don't recall any of the early missions being all too difficult. There were a few missions just before you got Void Rays that I had to re-do a few times but most of the hero focused micro missions I felt were pretty easy. Only annoyance is constantly having to swap back to Artanis to do his AOE heal like every 4 seconds.

talking about the mastery for the artanis/kerrigan one, getting it done in under 11 minutes.

Nice starting to play a bit of Masters players. Still mostly Diamond but I'm playing (and beating) Masters every so often.

Gotta say I had absolutely no idea how much damage was mitigated by the stun from Centurions, holy shit. Still think Sentinels are better when you're using reconstruction beam though.

Yeah, pretty much. Masteries are still a total bitch compared to normal mission completion on brutal. Very unforgiving on timing. I got unsealing the past done on my second try, then realized I was doing it the hard way (you can leave the lair at the 4th stasis lock for the megalith to kill which buys you tons of time to finish the others).

WoL is like a million billion times harder than HotS/LotV on brutal. I tried the dig and kept getting my top base defenses broken, first very early, the second time from an air wave and I couldn't recover that time. Immortals just shred Siege Tanks so fast and can take absurd amounts of damage since WoL Immortals still have that damn 'never take more than 10 damage while your shields are up' ability. Maybe I need marine bunkers up top instead of a planetary fortress.

*edit*

or from looking at a video, maybe just use supply depots.

I barely consider CoH an RTS because it is mostly absent micro.

I'm just going to assume you've never played the sequel, which I directly referred to and conclude you have no clue what you're talking about in regards to it's gameplay or engine. However, I will agree with you that the SC2 engine is both simplistic and runs smoothly by design - caveat being designed well does not make it the best ever. Show me the non-scripted evolving landscapes, directional cover + damage modifiers, variable suppression mechanics - show me the custom games where that's at because I know it's not in the campaign with as basic as it's gameplay was.

Turns out when I went back to my Terran campaign, it took me directly to a checkpoint on The Dig right before the air attack that broke my northern base entrance, so I was able to back my siege tanks off (they were too far forward in the first place) and put the laser to work, then finished the mission.

The Media Blitz mastery achievement (complete the mission in 20 minutes, minus the 5 you're controlling the Odin so 15 really) continues to elude me. Lose so much time having to defend my base even following a guide I saw on youtube. Guess I need to practice my timing some more. Really wish WoL had master archives like the later campaigns do, I noticed you can cheese a few missions by drop podding upgraded specters at objectives, but I took tech reactors like any sane person would, and I went with ghosts this playthrough since neither one really matters and I wanted to see the cutscene of Tychus getting thrown around by the voodoo doll. Also fucked up Maw of the Void mastery (yet again) by being sloppy and losing a goddamn dark templar inside the rip field. To make things worse I played for like 10 more minutes before I realized I had already blown the achievement.

On the LotV side, I can't seem to get base defenses established on the right side for Purity of Purpose, which is getting through the mission without using Kerrigan to kill units. I can handle the left side with no real problem but on the right side, even with planetary fortresses and siege tanks, that first enemy attack wave breaks right through after steamrolling Artanis. Mission would be so unbelievably different if Artanis was actually capable of holding off the first goddamn attack. Guess I just need to keep at it. Haven't worked on HotS in a bit, all I have left there is the masteries and brutals for the last 3 missions on Korhal.

The super units you get in HotS and LotV really make the higher difficulties so much easier compared to your units in WoL.

HotS and LotV 100%. Brutal Salvation was surprisingly easy, although I suppose the Stargate Karax trick is responsible for that. I got Purity of Purpose by building a banshee/viking deathball instead of trying to wall with fortresses and siege tanks. All that's left is a handful of WoL brutals + 2 WoL masteries.

I missed Media Blitz by 1 fucking second yesterday. I was so goddamn salty. Loaded from an earlier checkpoint and was able to shave off ~10 seconds or so, glad to finally have that goddamn achievement knocked off. All that's left for hard achievements is 25 minutes or less on the air mission on Char, and then only using the relic once during All In. I originally did my hard playthrough of WoL around when HotS came out and I couldn't even beat All In on hard using the relic freely, but my base management is better now and I know a couple strats. It's still amazing how much harder WoL is compared to HotS and LotV. Kerrigan can solo significant portions of missions on brutal and the Spear of Adun might honestly be even more powerful than Kerrigan. Terrans are stuck with vanilla ass units with a couple upgrades. They don't even get any extra love in co-op.

One Terran in ro16. 4 Terrans knocked out of ro32 by Protoss. Why the hell Blizzard is not pulling the trigger on fixing the matchup is beyond me. You have MarineLord -- probably the best foreigner certainly the best foreign Terran -- losing to Showtime. You nave Neeb beating Dayshi.
