Almost tempted to buy the 250k ship from new atlantis. Just for the 2,000 storage it has.

It looks cool too and seems to have pretty high weapons all around.

But I probably dont even have the pilot skill for it :p
can you send items back to ship like in Baldurs gate? lol

Able to play now after extended vacay time.

Only about an hour in and exploring the first planet. Series X looks great and runs a smooth 30 - PC on a 3700x with 2070 Super - High settings at 1440p hitting 40-45 FPS. Fun stuff :) Looking forward to playing more.

Speaking of piloting, came across my first ship I needed a higher skill in piloting to use. Was one of those Red Fleet ghost ships. Sucks you gotta invest so deeply in that skill to unlock that.

So, I was kind of regretting my trait choices because I chose introvert and unlike in the past games I've actually felt like running with a companion most of the time in Starfield. You can enter the following in the console to bring up the character creation menu again: "showlooksmenu player 1"

I thought it would disable achievements but I was able to get an achievement after going through the creation again, so that was cool.

Hmm might do this. I chose one of the religions apparently. All I read when I looked it up was a chest of goodies. So i thought "freebies!". But that chest was shit.

Otherwise I chose parents(free gifts) and the terra ferma(figured 95% of my fighting would be on a planet).

I should of chose the dream home, but I didn't know how much the loan was, didnt want to not be able to pay and then they repo my house.

I was nice to the druids, then picked up a bottle of water in their grove.

They want 510 gold or jail.

Thanks Obama.

The parents thing is actually a semi decent trait and they money you send back is trivial. They just gave me a free starship. Nothing amazing, but it’s free lol

I’m having fun with melee build. I’ve got a double damage on full health axe, so I usually just rush pirates and 1 shot them lol. I’m sure that will taper off at somepoint

They won't repo your house unless you ask them to. You have to pay the loan off in full or basically pay $500 credits every time you want to access it for a given week.

The parent trait is advised, they're just so wholesome.

Terra Firma is probably optimal, like Cinge says almost all fighting is on land. Maybe that'll change later or with mods. Feels like very few story quests will have you board enemy vessels, so unless you chose that life you'll be fighting on land a lot.

I learned that apparently different Starports and stations offer different ship parts and likewise going direct to the manufacturer can yield dif parts

well, that changes a lot lol

The description of the starport for your outpost says you get a bunch of mods, I'm not sure if it's a superset of all available parts or what.

This looks like it'll be a month two buy, after one or two major patches and initial QOL mods come out.

I read somewhere your piloting skill also determines what parts you can see/get. Also tied to level it seems.

Maybe its like the weapons? You have to reach certain level to start to see calibrated/refined/advanced weapons or armors. It's crazy the difference. I had a regular modified eagle , it was 37 dmg(no mods). I found an advanced one off a mob and it was 117 dmg(no mods). It's too bad you cant use the weapon station to just upgrade them to these higher versions yourself. Have to find or buy them.

Yeah the massive variation in weapon damage is confusing. I'm not sure if there's an attribute like "calibrated" that's causing it or if there's just a hidden ilvl scalar doing it.

Right now I'm using a lawgiver and it's one-shotting mobs ez. I'm actually thinking about switching difficulty to very hard, which is typically inadvisable in Bethesda games since it historically turned everything into bullet sponges.

I know the calibrated stuff is causing it, at least base damage.

I looked it up afterwards. It's on purpose. Removing the modifications and quality(white/blue/purple/orange). There is regular, then calibrated, refined after and finally advanced. Even rumors of another after that, superior.

Each one ups the base damage of the weapon by a damn good amount.

Those prefixes also can apply to suits/helmets/packs. I assume they buff the defenses of each one.

On top of those bases, you get modifications and quality changes.

Example:

Regular Urban Eagle(white quality, no mods) and the advanced one(white quality, no mods). Everything is the same just a huge boost in damage.

Thanks.

It's so much fun exploring a newly released game with no fully fleshed out wiki right there explaining everything.
