to pre-answer the same few questions:

definitely worth getting at 50%+ discounts:
sleeping dogs (dlcs are meh)
fallout, fallout NV
batman (both are really AWESOME and "rich" of batman stuff)
bioshock (all)
walking dead
dark souls
civ5
tropico 4
dear esther
to the moon
saints row 3 (get the full package)
gta full bundle (will come around)
bastion
portal 2
trine/trine2
kerbal space program
tomb raider reboot
all assassins creed except 3
mortal kombat (2 hour story movie, more for longtime MK fans)
dishonored
dead space
far cry blood dragon
just cause 2 (crazy gta style game set on corrupt tropical island)
deus ex HR (cool cyberpunk/scifi story, long time DX fans may not like it)

more borderline:

skyrim (need PC version and legendary edition to be good, need lots of mods to be better than average)
borderlands 2 (boring single player, need friends to play co-op)
defiance (shitty but cheap mmo, no sub)
assassins creed 3 (shitty story compared to rest)
deadpool (8 year old humor you may love or hate, game gets boring fast)
dead island
crysis 3 (like 8 hours of gameplay)
darksiders 2 (decent story but highly repetitive gameplay)
hitman (decent but short, really fun if you force yourself to be super stealthy but isnt required and not as stealthy as previous hitmans for last few levels)
far cry 3 (yeah the dlc is way more fun than the base, and doesnt require fc3 so weird)
max payne 3 (unless you really love cutscenes, which this game is 80%)
The Witcher isn't good?

They should put both the Batmans on sale for like under $10 for the two IMO!

I picked them both up for $12.50 total when City was on flash sale. Can't really beat that.

Anyone played Mars War Logs? The setting looks sweet, but it got trashed pretty hard at 59 on Metacritic. Is it any good? My backlog is big so I don't have time to waste on buggy half-assed games, and I am mainly looking for a good story. So is this a diamond in the rough, or a better off avoiding game?
I did surprising good game, if you like science being magic and Escape from Butcher bay I recommend it.

If you're buying the BL2 season pass be aware the Psycho character DLC is not included
We're all going to run a game tonight and I never played. I rolled up the Psycho dude. Is the Psycho pretty bad ass?

The flash deals, community choice deals, and daily deals are always the same discount. There's been like two exceptions and they may have been errors. This is based on previous sales so unless they change it up just grab your games during any of those.

The Witcher isn't good?
most people say the witcher 2 is good, the witcher 1 is just ok and you don't need to play it to play W2. W1 doesn't work with console controller, W2 does. I tried both and hated them, just couldn't get into the story at all and abandoned multiple starts. I also don't like skyrim and borderlands so if you like those games you may really like witcher1/2. Witcher 2 is supposed to be a very rich story, and witcher 3 is coming out next year. I'll probably play Witcher2 again someday after my backlog is done (never).

la noire is $5 and worth it, fun game and don't need the dlcs but they are an extra $2.50. easier with a controller.

Depends on whether you care more about gameplay or story. I personally think that The Witcher's story was quite a bit better than Witcher 2's. I wouldn't let some clunky combat--due to them using an engine (Aurora/NWN) that was never designed for an action game--keep me from playing it and it definitely helps to know what happened in the first game when you're playing the sequel. It's not like TW2's combat was perfect anyway; compared to what they promised during development (Demon's Souls was thrown around in interviews) TW2 is pretty damn clunky as well.

I much preferred the Witcher 1. I never ended up finishing the Witcher 2 because I didn't like the on rails feel but the combat was definitely better than the first.

I played Witcher 2 and liked it quite a bit. Thought the story and the choices you have were pretty interesting. Combat wasn't the greatest but overall I liked the game quite a bit. I remember starting Witcher 1 but only got about an hour into it and never touched it again. I bet now I could go back and play it but I think at the time I didn't care to because the combat really turned me off.

Yeah the combat in witcher 1 still sucks. I bought it anyways and used a trainer so I could use that fire aoe that killed everything just to see the story play out. Witcher 1 gets boring pretty fast with the fedex quests ugh.

The badge thing is a good move by Steam. They get to offer even more incentive to buy stuff versus, Amazon, or something similar. The trading cards are only gotten off Steam purchased games afaik.
