I played this game for about 5 minutes before I had to do something this weekend. All my characters are on Shadowlands apparently.

If you hate leveling then this game will not absolve you of that hate.

A good formula I found basically revolves around skipping EVERY side quest and just focusing on Class and Planet story missions (you'll run into the planet story pretty much right after you land, either in the space station before you shuttle down or in the spaceport before you head outside), then doing PvP and Kuat. If you're the outgoing type, getting a group for the level appropriate flashpoints can help as well. Just doing that I've gotten my Sentinal up to 21 and I haven't even landed on Taris yet. No exp boosts either.

Had an interesting conversation with a guildy this weekend concerning the ability to earn credits. I argued that doing it was easy as long as you didn't expect to have a million credits right away. He asked me how many characters I had (thirteen 55s), and countered that it's easy for me because I have so many toons. Basically, he said that because I had so many toons I could make credits easily because they can chain off each other. Even just doing Ilum with three of my toons, about an hour of my time, is a quarter of a million credits. My only counter is that prior to 1.2 dropping waaaaay back when, the devs had put a vendor on the fleet selling certain colored crystals. One was the White crystal, and it was pricy, 2.5m. With just my Assassin as my only level 55, I found a way to get that money before 1.2 dropped and took the vendor away, and I ran around for a long time as one of the only people with a White Color Crystal.

My argument is that if someone wants something, then they shouldn't bitch about not being able to get it, they should find a way to make it happen. The trick, and the thing I think most people can't get their head around, is that it's something that takes time.

Is PVP xp decent? I like the idea of doing just story/planet quest lines and then pvp/flashpoint otherwise.

At what point can you start doing that? After the first newbie zone?

Making money in this MMO is the exact same thing as all other MMOs If you are new to the game like I am and there is already an established economy....then gather materials and put it on the AH..GTN..whatever.

Sure I was intimidated a bit when I zoned into fleet the first time and saw items going for 1m-15m, but none of those items are something I could / want to use anyways. I just hit 19 and landed on Balmorra and have already amassed around 50k credits from questing / instances. While 50k credits is nothing in the grand scheme of things, I see the materials I need to level Biochem are going for 60k-75k credits a stack. Which only means I need to find a decent area with mobs that drop bio items and farm maybe an hour or so and I would have 100k+ in no time.

TLDR: Pick up a couple of gathering skills and slicing to amass a fortune in no time. Money is simple to make in this game if you bypass crafting and just gather.

Is there anything worth getting in the cash shop if you are already a subscriber? You get 500 credits but I wouldn't have the first clue what to spend that on.

Look for account-wide unlocks and collections you can't buy with credits on the market and get those.

Not worth spending on single character stuff or random packs.

Rocket boots and all of the cool down unlocks are flat out amazing to have for your entire account. Being able to pop a sprint every 30 seconds on all characters while leveling is very nice.

I bought the flashpoint and class mission experience boosters, since I am trying to avoid as much side shit as possible.

Pretty much this. I'll throw them some CC I earn every once in a while for something cool (the recent regen item that was a tribute to Dulfy was one) or when they do the flash sales.

One thing I can recommend if you find them for "cheap" on the GTN is account-wide inventory unlocks. Really only something I recommend if you like starting new toons. Base toon starts with 3 rows. It's like 400k to unlock all the rest of the rows total. But, each Account Inventory unlock you use will open up another row permanently on all your characters, even ones you create in the future. I've now used enough of those that all future toons of mine will have all 8 rows unlocked. Next step is to do that for my Cargo Hold.

Yeah money isn't an issue in this game to make.

Even swapping out Ultimate mods into costume gear is not even over 10k a swap. While that sounds like a lot, you can easily get that from doing one daily quest and selling all the loot (assuming you don't keep dying). The cost of mod swapping has been inflation proof for at least a year now and it was even more expensive at launch.

Is that the even that gave out the green crystals? Think I still had one from the original. Is there anything else worth getting?

its decent with the buffed xp, and yes doing story/planet/FP/few pvp games is totally viable, Kuat is easy xp
