That looks very interesting. Would like a slightly higher resolution screen, but that's damn good for the price. I hope it does well when reviews come in, as something like that would finally get me to buy a tablet.
It looks like a nice tablet work laptop hybrid. But comparing it to a surface pro is not really accurate since it is running bay trail while surface has a full i5. Also res is a major negative. Surface at fhd and I can still start to see pixels if I sit too close.

I wouldn't expect great things from it performance wise, but it's nice to see a relatively cheap tablet running full Windows 8 instead of that RT crap. Being able to run older windows programs is pretty much the only reason I'd consider a Windows tablet, otherwise I'd just get one running android.

Anyone have any experience with any 3g tablets? We have an old gen iPad already and want our next tablet to be something we can use anywhere. I've been eyeing the Note 10.1 2014 that is due to come out but I don't know what it's price point will be.

Every person I know with an iPad has told me to wait on updating mine, complaints are slower response times when opening apps and other performance issues.

Anyone else having this issue?

My iPad 2 is definitely feeling slow, but this is the first time I've heard that for the newer ones. Luckily, updating to iOS 7 didn't make the speed any worse.

The iPad 3 was announced in March 2012 and the iPad 4 / mini were announced in Nov 2012. Since it's been almost a year since the last refresh, I'd wait until they announce a refresh before buying one. There've been a few leaks here and there about an iPad that looks like a big iPad mini (rounded edges), so that'll probably get announced before Thanksgiving.

Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2 announced today. Looks like the Pro has gotten all of the upgrades I was hoping for, MS is claiming like 100% more battery life. Covers have been upgraded, there's a new wireless keyboard accessory, new tablet dock, etc. They also created a specialized music production cover that looks kind of cool for the people interested in that stuff. Price for the Pro remains at $899, preorders starting tomorrow and shipping late October.

True, but you get unlimited access to Skype wifi hotspots.

Everyone who purchases a Surface Pro 2 will be given access to several Microsoft services too, including one year of free Skype calling to landlines, as well as unlimited use of Skype-branded Wi-Fi hotspots. And for two years, users will get 200GB of SkyDrive storage as well.

Preorders start tomorrow from Microsoft.com, not sure if you can get them elsewhere.

Also, just saw that MS has announced they'll be launching an LTE version next year.

I'm probably going to go with the 128gb and add a 64gb card on top of that. I'm just not willing to pay 1299/1799 for more storage space. Would rather get an external drive, back up to my time capsule, or make use of the free 200GB SkyDrive space they give you.

My thoughts on Windows tablets:

"I've already got all these wonderful Android devices. Sooooo ... I'm fine, thanks."

I really don't see how they're going to get more market share. Maybe they can eat into the Blackberry sadness.
