I have not played since the first month of release but I played a zerker - and I think I remember having a shit of a time pulling more than a few packs. 20 mobs not counting minions sounds like a gross exaggeration of how much you can pull without leashing. I managed sometimes to pull more than enough to kill me but these were rare and required 2 people pulling.
It's not hard at all. Find tightly packed area, while on mount gather them up, spin in a circle to get them all packed , run a bit away demount, charge up attack and let loose when they get close. Not even close to exaggeration.

Yea, there is a room in the Three Towers (Val Tirkai) that has fast respawning bloodfiend type mobs, you will be killing pretty much non-stop, it is very fun as a zerker. Also, there is an area with argonomorph Mugati(?) type mobs that are all close together such that you can gather up 15 or so mobs, much fun!

One of the better buffs to Zerkers was allowing the lifetap skill be instant cast after any overcharged skill

Leashing and maximum number of mobs allowed to aggro on one person were changed - it's much easier to gather and kill huge packs of mobs now. Some of you may remember the really weird aggro with the giant packs of tiny mobs going wild in places like Necromancer's Tomb. That kind of thing doesn't happen anymore due to the changes.

There are even "new" monsters called villains or tyrants or something that pull all adjacent mobs and drop a 3% (I think) exp buff.

Yeah, I played at release and there was a max number of mobs you could aggro. Was pretty annoying trying to gather up as much as we could and half of them just resetting despite the fact that we were next to their spawn point.

It's gone FTP now, but have things changed at all to continue to make it fun? It seems that's the case, as I see more people returning to it and having a good time?

Pretty much the same as most every MMO out there atm. Quest/dungeon/grind to max level. At max level do a combination of crafting, dailies/reputations, hard mode dungeons, pvp(arena/BGs), raids(nexus).

It's main draw , at least to me, is the combat. And since that draw is prevalent in almost everything there is to do I am happy.

Helps that I play 2-3 other MMOs along with this one, it helps makes sure I don't get burned out on any one game.

I really hope its not just NPC models scaled down and given a few animations, but who am I kidding.

The candy spinner looks funny though at least.

I played a mystic till 50something on EU during release. That killed my soul, especially soloing.

Is it any better yet ?

(And by that I mean population on EU, is it still lagging behind 3-4 months on the US patches, etc etc)

I'm not too sure on EU status but assuming they have the Tera Rising (FTP) patch they are pretty much up to date. There have only been minor patches since then. Populations are way up since FTP patch for sure.

End game is still pretty bad though. The alliance patch may help with the outdoor pvp zones and 10-20 man raids. Thats still a month+ away though.

In the meantime you can look forward to pirate costume lulz

What, you mean, is it any better yet in terms of mystics soloing? Almost certainly no.

Never reached endgame, but heard it was fairly "meh". The part that keeps TERA interesting (for me, anyway) is the nature of how the combat works.

If you play on PvE, I can twink you to some extent, but twinking at the early levels is pretty meaningless and unnecessary.

So, what's with this "rookie" thing in dungeons? My main is flagged rookie at level 56, in dungeons that I've done dozens of times, and the flag never seems to go away even when I solo the entire dungeon. It gives a bunch of bonuses including better chance at loot from bosses. Sounds buggy... not that I'm complaining.
