IIRC the story behind that McBeating goes something like this:
It happened in a castle law state, they attacked him and entered an employees-only area of the store, so he could have legally continued beating them until they were no longer alive.
Because he's male and they are female, and because he's black, and because he had a prior criminal record, he was arrested and charged.
He was never convicted of anything over the incident because it happened in a castle law state and they were the aggressors and they entered an area they should not have been in.
He was still unfairly punished despite there being no conviction, because it was still considered a probation/parole violation.
