So Congress mandated the Europa clipper be launched on SLS when they funded it. Because of delays and the Artemis program, the probe will have to sit in storage for years waiting for a ride if nothing changes.

My cousin works on aerodynamic simulation for SpaceX. The physics behind a simple-looking hover and landing like this are truly horrendous. It's a massive accomplishment that they're starting to make this look routine.

Congress has to guarantee a purpose for the SLS since they worked so hard to take chunks of its production home to their districts as pure bacon.

It's got a purpose now, it's first 3 launches are for Artemis. Hopefully they at least open up Europa Clipper to having other options.
