I've been drinking this the last few weekends:

View attachment 426939

I've tried to enjoy it, but I just can't see the appeal of these super high ABV beers. The alcohol is so overpowering it ruins any hop, malt, or other flavors. It does get me drunk right quick, though.

I grabbed the double IPA version of this (12%) and damn… hop profile was good but the alcohol still overwhelmed the flavor.

I also picked up their Raging Bitch (8.3%) - I think someone else had posted it - it was really good.

It was me. My wife has a joke she says when I buy that. She says she turns into one because I get loud and obnoxious af in discord

I'm not really one to have specific go-to beers, but if I'm in the mood for a gose, Modern Times' "Fruitlands" is damn tasty

Finally picked up my 2022 Father’s Day present and opened one up. I haven’t had anything from the Bruery for a while, forgot how stupid good their stuff is.

A couple months ago I picked up a random beer at my local place that I'd never seen before: Apocalypse Cow from 3 Floyds Brewing. I'd never heard of it or the brewery, but damn was it good. I've had several of their other beers since: Zombie Ice, Barbarian Haze, Lazersnake, and Gumballhead. They've all been outstanding. If you see a 3 Floyds beer pick it up and give it a try.

I know the name, but not sure if I’ve had any of their stuff.
Edit: ah, that’s right, Zombie Dust. Still not sure if I’ve had it or just heard of it

3 Floyds has a massive reputation. Zombie Dust was one of the pioneering citra hopped beers.

Get everything you can from 3 Floyds. I have yet to try anything they brew that I don't find exceptional.

Random question for people: how many different kinds of beer do you have in the house at a time? I always have around 15-20. Not a lot of each one, but when we have people over, as we always do, I like to give good options so everyone has a beer they love. It isn't like I'm stocking my bar as though I'm a professional bar, I get a six pack of something different very often, and it adds up.

That's a lot of beer! I'm pretty simple. Usually have a standard classic like Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, something light like a kolsch or pilsner, and then an IPA.

Typically guests get cocktails or wine though. I always have a solid wine selection around.

Yeah, I have the wine selection, too, and always have things to make cocktails. I have found that a lot of people want to start or finish an evening with a beer.

What cocktails do you end up making for guests? I make a lot of gins and tonic, sidecars, gin and vodka martinis (need lemons and olives on hand). But we are entertaining 2-3 nights a week at least, and beer seems to be the go to for most people.

I do have rather a splendid collection of beer steins and glasses. I know a potter who hand makes steins, and he keeps giving them to me, so the collection grows. I recently learned that every variety of beer in Belgium has a specific shaped glass in which it is supposed to be served. I'm not at that level, but I'm intrigued. There is a bar near me that specialises in Belgian beer, and they apparently have dozens and dozens of different glasses, and I'm curious to know how different the beer opens up and flavours change depending on the glass.

Almost nobody else I know drinks beer, so I only buy for myself. I generally keep three types in the fridge at any one time:
- One go-to (typically Loose Cannon. It's just a solid IPA that I really enjoy)
- One seasonal
- One new beer I've never tried

I drink 1 - 2 beers a day on average, so I buy 3 six-(or 4-)packs a couple times a month.

I typically have All Day IPA from Founders Brewery (not all that far from me, readily available). That's my go to beer.

I only have a few beers a week, so my stock stays pretty low. I’ll pick up a mixed 24 pack if Costco has something that interest me or a 4/6 pack of whatever I’m in the mood for.
I do also have a stash of about a dozen 750ml bottles of various Bruery stuff, mainly +15% so it doesn’t get much attention.

I’ll usually get the Sierra Nevada/New Belgium variety packs if they’re available, local grocery will run a sale that gets a 12 pack under $14 and I’ll stock up. Then I’ll occasionally buy a couple of 4-pack pints of something local to have.

Yeah, OC. Bottle Logic is definitely great. I’ve been a few times, I think mainly I just came across The Bruery first because they have much better distribution, and I do like the wider range of styles they offer. I believe they’ve been around longer too.

IMO you can’t go wrong with either.
