Didn't realize that Bitches Brew was a...dark beer. LOL, I'm laughing way too hard at that.

EDIT: Wait...this is the label? lololol

The 'dark beer' part is still killing me.
I pulled it out of a box with a Bitches Brew tag. I never looked at the label and I had no idea who Miles Davis is.

Hope every bar is ready to buy 18oz glasses to get a FULL 16oz of beer plus head.

Fucking retarded law. It's one thing to get a 14oz pour, it's another to get a 15.5oz with head.
Technically head is still beer, so as long as they used a true 16oz pint and filled it to the top w/ head they will be fine.

This is more of a response to the fact that the majority of "pint" glasses you find are actually 14.5oz glasses. Odds are most places will just call it a "pounder" or a "glass" of beer and keep the 14.5's.

Hrm, head isn't just beer though. It's beer and a shitload of CO2 and air. It melts to nothing, so if you get an extremely foamy pour, it'll fade away and you'll sit there with 14oz of shit.

But yeah, the 14.5oz glass stuff is bullshit and false advertising, but I see this going the wrong way as some neckbeard-beer geek suddenly has a hissy fit about his RIS only have 15oz instead of the full 16oz pour. I only know that because I've witnessed it happen :|

I wish my regular bar had better beer. They've got shit like Manny's and Mac and Jack.
The bar closest to my home(total dive) has "Guinness Wednesdays" where they have $1 Guinness pint drafts. It's pretty awesome, I just wish the place wasn't a total craphole, or I'd be there every week.

Government shutdown has closed the TTB, which approves all new brewery licenses as well as new labels/recipes. Basically craft breweries can't do any of their seasonals from here on out until the TTB opens back up and starts approving the labels again. Going to be a huge backlog for them to wade through too. Probably will start to notice when winter ales are due out.

Shutdown calls time on craft brewers

That personally affects me in a much greater way than any other factor of the government shutdown. Motherfuckers

Can't they just reuse labels?

You have that backwards. Wait what are you talking about...

Anyways, the delay is most definetly going to be affecting the spring seasonals as well.

Can't they just reuse labels?
If is a beer that has already had an approved label, then yes. But if a brewery had anything new coming down the pipe they can't release it without an approved label. Just for example, using one of your new favorite breweries, Lagunitas, they wanted to put Hairy Eyeball in 22oz bottles but can't get the label approved for it right now. Not even a new beer, just a regular one they wanted to put in a new package.

Any brewery that had any plans for a new seasonal release this year are pretty much screwed.

Fall beers are the best beers, and I'm not talking about pumpkin beers or ciders, but most peoples Oktoberfest beers are pretty good. I've never had one that I flat-out disliked.

And that also works out perfectly to coincide with the best beer-drinking spectator sport, Football. Part of the reason that Sept-Oct-Nov is my favorite time of year.

For me winter beers are king. I don't know why, but my favorite seasonal beer of all seasonal beers is Sam Adams Winter Lager. I know it's probably heresy to say that, but fuck, it just has the perfect taste combination to match my taste buds or something because I can't get enough of it.

I look forward to each season for the beer releases, but I think winter has the most interesting things to try. Lots of insane malt profiles and many beers experimenting with different adjuncts.

My day-in-day-out preferable beer style is IPA so I get my fill of different and crazy hop profiles all year long

Winter beers have been dead to me ever since Great Lakes went cheap on their Christmas Ale. I drink stouts and porters year round so there really isn't anything else I look forward to.

Yeah old school XMas Ale from Great Lakes was the balls. My cousin got married at an outdoor like tent thing attached to a resturaunt and bar in Cleveland right on the lake during the winter. They had those heater lamps so standing under those while the cold wind hit you in the face getting hammered on old school XMas ale was the best wedding I ever went to. Shit was cash.
