I was speaking on DRM not region locking - region locking is not remotely the same thing. Not played P4A but not heard of it having DRM.
It was a choice they were given and they went with it even though not a single other game did. It was DRM without being DRM.I was speaking on DRM not region locking - region locking is not remotely the same thing. Not played P4A but not heard of it having DRM.
No it's still not DRM - especially considering even before DRM was an option Japan used to have a long history of region locking - they were the ones that invented the concept and almost everything previous to PS3 was region locked with the majority of titles. It was a choice they were given and they went with it even though not a single other game did. Like I said, nothing is changing. The Online Pass program for PlayStation first-party games will not continue on PlayStation 4. Similar to PS3, we will not dictate the online used game strategy (the ability to play used games online) of its publishing partners. As announced last night, PS4 will not have any gating restrictions for used disc-based games. When a gamer buys a PS4 disc they have right to use that copy of the game, so they can trade-in the game at retail, sell it to another person, lend it to a friend, or keep it forever.
No, Sony are saying that they're not blocking used games or allowing publishers to apply DRM to block used games, but publishers are free to implement online passes if they want to. Basically, it's the same as the 360/ps3.Correct, Sony is changing nothing. They are leaving the option for game publishers to make changes though, and many will.
In the future, gamers will continue migrating to digital sales, and used games will become such a small revenue loss that it doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. The only sensible thing for publishers to do is keeping it status quo, and not receive negative sentiment over what's eventually a non-issue.Correct, Sony is changing nothing. People spend money on different skins in games - what do you think?I know kingdom hearts gameplay is good, but I don't get the allure of the Disney crap mixed with jrpg. Just strikes me as cheesy and very Asian. The fact people are disappointed the Donald Duck wolverine Ss is a fake.. Is that something to have been excited about? Wtf?
Pretty much. The smart thing to do is to give more incentive to buy digital copies. Steam offers the games at a much higher discount than you usually see physical media at or offer in-game items for the digital copies, etc. I bought more games digitally last year than I did physical copies and I expect to do even more so in the next 12 months. In the future, gamers will continue migrating to digital sales, and used games will become such a small revenue loss that it doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. I grew up going to Disney and Epcot in Florida quite often. So when Kingdom Hearts came out, even though I was over 12, it was very much a reminder of my childhood and good memories. Also being heavily a Square fan and playing every FF it was a marriage of the childhood and young adult (lol?). Especially Winnie the Pooh. My mom and Grandfather used to always read those stories to me and watched a lot of the cartoons. Just hit at exactly the right time during a transition in gaming and attitude for me I think which really rang home.Yeah, back to games, I've never understood the appeal of Kingdom Hearts. Of course, I was also over the age of 12 when the first one came out, so that might have something to do with it. I put Kingdom Hearts in the same category as Pokemon, it all originally came out when I was already an adult, so there's no appeal there.
The gameplay is the appeal, the same as something like FFX-2. Plus you got to see a lot of Square characters outside of their normal universe which was pretty cool.Yeah, back to games, I've never understood the appeal of Kingdom Hearts.
Awww. Guess a_skeleton_03 is going to have to go back to crying in the fetal position.Seriously, you people are incapable of reading.

Their "Up to the publisher" DRM only applies to multiplayer gating and things like Online Passes. There will not be DRM beyond that, that is Sony's mandate on how the system works.
Yeah honestly, all that really had to be done to completely destroy the used game market was to offer new games for $44-$49 if you download them, the standard $59 if you buy a retail box. Retail distribution of physical game disks would dwindle to almost nothing pretty quickly.Pretty much. The smart thing to do is to give more incentive to buy digital copies.
