The only thing that prevents me from agreeing with Utnayan on this one is that Microsoft will most certainly adapt the shipments to the pre-orders to be sure to be able to announce 'OMG! Xbone sold out everywhere in 24 hours! OMG!' even if it means selling three units. That being said, PS4 having seemingly less trouble manufacturing their units and having a bigger number of pre-orders could push Microsoft to put as many unit on the market as their production allows to potentially create opportunity sales.

Also, comparing this launch to the Wii U's is a bit unfair as it will become a case study on how not to launch a product, but comparing it to the X360/PS3's is also a bit unfair, because the race was more balanced and the jump to HD created a much higher level of excitement.

You can use any of the Console finders sites to find some store that has one in stock.

I did that for the Ipad 1 and 2 when they were supposed to be non existent.

My proof is the insane preorders allready happening..Sorry if your tiny little brain can't comprehend that.

Yeah the latter part there was on purpose since Column was the one that did the original comparison. I almost felt bad pointing that out at that point.

My deal would be 5 in stock at every store in america for all of December for PS4 and Xbox one.

Come one, you said there would be stacks of them?? 5 is way less then a stack.

Also Xbox 360 versus the PS3 was the most un balenced race ever.

One came out super late, and was 100 dollars more with no games...

You said they would be impossible to find. I can't even find most stores having 5+ of this gen in stock because of how they maintain inventory levels.

I am proving to you that 1) You will not need to preorder one if you want to go out and buy 1 on launch. 2) There will be plenty of stock after Black Friday.

I consider plenty of stock 4 out of 5 stores in a major metro area with a population of over 100k having 5 in stock more than ample supply.

Whatdya think? If not that's ok. I'll go take the pictures anyway.

I would be curious to see that, but still proves nothing.

If you really think american parents will not buy anything for there kids because they can't get the PS4, you my friend are crazy.

While it seems rather likely that the PS4 will sell out at launch, the supply chain doesn't seem to be much of a problem. Sony isn't launching in Japan until February of 2014, so North America and Europe should have plenty of units available for purchase. If you haven't already secured your pre-order, it looks like you should be able to pick up a PS4 without much of a hassle around launch day. The days of consoles selling for two-to-three times their face value on eBay might just be behind us now.

This isn't 2005. Time to start thinking like a business. And the staggered launch between regions allows for more production yields. This is a no brainer. As I said before, the only reason you may not be able to see Xbones on launch day in the stores is due to their own fuck ups in the manufacturing process.

In other words, just go to the store and buy one.

For Christ sake man think about it. There are around 1.2 million preorders for PS4. If we take that alone coupled with manufacturing estimates coming from Microsoft who is behind the 8-ball with 6.2 million, with a metric shit ton of less preorders than Sony, the math does itself. Estimated ship units for PS4 will be over 10 million with Japan not even getting a launch until Feb 2014.

Once again, just go to the store and buy one. Which brought up this whole initial conversation to begin with when some guy said he did a 180 and didn't know who to preorder from. Don't worry about it. Go to the store, and go buy one in 15 minutes.

I already said 8 posts back the only reason why there may be a shortage is due to manufacturing fuck ups. That said I think there are about a total of 5 preorders of Xbones up in an Igloo somewhere in Alaska when they mistook the product on Amazon as a tool to shatter moose bones, so 6.1999999 million units should still be available to have blow up when you plug them in.

Not even sure how you can accurately measure the availability of the Xbox one vs the PS4. There is bound to be an abundance of Xbox one consoles because they are shipping to a very, very, VERY limited section of the world compared to the PS4 worldwide release within the span of a week or two. The Xbox one will be almost 6 months behind the launch of the PS4 in the majority of the world.

Based on the launch window, you would think that per worldwide capita, there are far less PS4 consoles available than Xbox one. In Norway, PS4 pre-orders seem sold out until next year (granted that might change, but the next expected shipping of PS4 consoles will be in late January 2014.) However, Xbox ones are not even available for purchase or pre-orders. But you can still get in on the second batch of PS4s months before the first Xbox ones are put out for sale. Microsofts intended sales numbers in the US must be HUGE to offset the eventual total Playstation domination in nearly every other country.

Column mentioned that parents will buy little Timmy one console or another. There are parents all over the world without even an option to buy the Xbox one. So they will wait. And still get the second batch of PS4s months before the Xbox one even launches, and they will not buy two. Next christmas they will get Timmy some PS4 games, not another machine where the exclusives all can be played on a PC as well.

I just assumed they were, I looked up Europe and US, and unlike Microsoft, the "Europe" release date seems to be the same for all countries. So within two weeks it launches in the majority of the western world. Larger release than the Xbox one. But then I noticed that it is not released in Japan until 2014.

..... Thought Sony was Japanese. Still, the PS4 seems to be a worldwide release roughly 1-2 months before the Xbox one launch. For this holiday season though, I have a feeling total sales of PS4s will be much greater than the Xbox one.
