Oh, gotcha - I thought they always had just said "limited areas" for the Q1 official launch anyhow though with no nationwide date - he was implying a delay.

I imagine large markets (LA, DFW, etc...) will have it rolled out sooner rather than later and a true nationwide won't be completed until late '15.

Sony Wont Refund PS4 User Who Lost $600 From Hack - GameSpot

Pretty fucked up shit. Glad I don't purchase shit from them unless its a code. For sure not gonna trust them for Digital content unless it's free from PS+
There wasn't any type of intrusion - the dude was bad with his password - it's nice that they're willing to give him $150 credit back and from how it's written it looks like he's getting to keep all the $600 worth of games bought as well.

Not to mention due to the wallet limit being $150 at a time, they might be perfectly fine refunding the whole thing as PSN credit - just the $150 limit is in the way, delaying things.

Who the fuck doesn't have Credit Card protection in 2015? Who cares what the Business says, almost every credit card in existence has this built into it now. Not to mention both Xbox live and PS4 are on Visas list of things to watch for. Multiple purchases lock the account, anything over 100 locks the account.

If the user escalates the payment dispute with his bank, his account will be banned.
Yeah Ok, this sounds like a Bull Shit story imo

thats why i don't have any credit card or paypal links anymore on steam, origin, Nintendo, PSN, or xbox live. i fund them with cards i purchase at best buy/gamestop (with a credit card) so that way if i ever do get hacked, the max I will lose is my wallet amount and not unlimited money.

credit card and account fraud is insane and "strong passwords" do literally nothing anymore, people are hacking in via much more sophisticated ways. My parents credit card was recently "hacked", and by that I mean a physical card was used at a Target and Macys IN THEIR TOWN and we verified they still had both their credit cards. They didn't get charged of course and the second charge triggered an account shut down (since they don't use the card much) but the rep I talked to said its becoming possible for thieves to duplicate cards physically with minimal contact, either restaurant waiter or even someone standing near you at a gas station. There are big gangs in every town now who print their own fraud credit cards and buy the numbers/3 digits/ZIPs from internet hackers and local shady people.

Its totally insane, I now have all my credit cards send me an email for every single charge I make so I can keep an eye on shit. ups the email volume a lot but doesn't let through crazy charges. Of course if my gmail gets hacked I am fucked, I enable two step authentication but then I can't lose my phone now or I am fucked. I think the whole fraud problem is going to get insanely bad before it gets much better.

Spronk almost every credit card has this built in now. If you even charge twice at a gas station it will lock.

There is no need to be scared haha. The Banks have your back completely.

I have no clue how someone made a 600 purchase on the PSN network ( a storefront that is actively monitored by every credit card) ,and his credit card didnt lock.

Did he use paypal?

For instance when PSN got breached a couple years back. Someone tried to charge 300 bucks in games, and my bank said no fucking way son, go directly to jail.

BTW that post is super mis leading. If you read the link all the way through, almost everything they are quoting on gamespot is coming from a level 1 customer support agent.

Who I guarantee probly doesnt have his job anymore.

In his Updates they are now working with him to resolve this issue.

3-4 people in a month (the one person was quoting a change that happened 1/29/15 - but he didn't notice it till later) - doesn't seem abnormal for something with millions of accounts. It seems weird that people don't realize they can still access their games even if the console isn't primary anyhow, it's not like the system is bricked or that they can't access those games - they've just got to be logged in to use the ones attached to that account for the meantime while it's not primary, being primary only allows offline use. [Which of course leads some people to do "game sharing" like PS3 era, except this time if you do it with someone else, they've got your CC info if you're foolish about it - I'd bet pennies to pesos that at least a few of these people were in a situation like that - since out of 20+ million users you know there's got to be a few trying to get "free games" by doing game sharing and getting screwed over it each month]

Or in short - don't game share outside of family. (And even then, not shady family)

I've never heard of the $75 at a gas station twice deal. I know some limit to how much you can charge per time like $75 or $100 but I've used multiple credit cards and lots of times I get $300 or more in gas at a time if it's for the boat or whatever.

They also base it off of your usage history and a bunch of other factors. If you typically get gas for 300$ every X months then no big deal. If you purchase gas in State X then purchase $300 in gas in State Y 1 hour later it will probably get flagged.

Most services ban you if you dispute any charges, that's pretty normal. Some valid issues with the rest of the policies he's wrestling with though.

Yup, I was remembering the headlines of articles like this -PS Vue Fully Launching In Q1 2015 | NextPowerUpbut then they go on to mention a number of cities, not nationwide. My mistake.

Curious what people think about crossplatform gaming. Do you feel more games should allow it? Games like CoD and Destiny would likely do well from allowing xbox and ps games to play with each other.

As a former 360 owner and now ps4 the online player base between the two consoles couldn't be more different.

I used to play FFXI and it was cross-platform with PC, PS2, and Xbox360. I enjoyed it, although you could always tell who the consolers were
