Life is strange @ $10 is worth it on any of the platforms
As is Tales from the Borderlands @ $7.50. Easily the two best games of that particular subgenre.

Both are cheaper than they've ever been on PC too, which is something you pretty much never see either.

Thanks for the heads up. Picked up both for ps4. Figure these games are good games to play with the wife.

If you don't have a PC capable of running it well, sure. I played it on both platforms and while the PS4 version isn't exactly bad, the PC version is night-and-day better.

What's wrong with it? Just graphics? Or is there actually gameplay flaws?

ps4/xbone version is locked at 30 fps, pc version has no fps limit. thats mainly the major difference, visually the two are very similar with the PC obviously better but most people wouldn't really notice. I'd definitely pick it up on console for $25 this week if you aren't playing on PC. The first DLC is out and $10 and supposed to be 10 hours of game play, the second DLC isn't due for a bit and is gonna be 20-30+ hours and a huge map and probably cost $20. You can buy the SP for $25. No doubt we'll see a GOTY with both DLCs but that's probably at least a year out.

they also released a free DLC every week for 16 weeks, most were costumes but there were 4-5 free quest lines so thats really cool of em

still the best reaction from game awards

Frame rates, load times on SSD, the ability to shut off trash like motion blur and chromatic aberration, and overall visual quality. I had the two versions running side-by-side on my desk and the difference was huge with PC settings maxed out (minus aforementioned trash). Wasn't even a ReShade/SweetFX thing, as I've still never seen a preset that looks better than the vanilla game. Little things too, like being able to use a DS4 and map a bunch of useful stuff to the touchpad instead of having it almost entirely wasted.

Also, there's mods to consider. Not important to the degree of, say, a Bethesda game, but still, I wouldn't want to play it without. CDPR has still never fixed the utterly broken XP system, to my knowledge. Maybe they'll fix it in the GOTY/EE release next year or whatever, but they didn't seem interested in redoing all the XP rewards in the meantime. Quite a few other bugs could be fixed with mods too, though I don't know if some or all of them got fixed in the later patches.

Whether or not the xp thing will bother you depends on how much of completionist you are and your tolerance for doing stuff in a game and getting no reward for it other than money. I still can't believe they apparently designed a game--especially an open world one, although I suppose you can blame their inexperience with open worlds for it--for people who plow through the main quest and ignore the vast majority of side quests, but that's the only explanation for how the XP system works.

They say anything about Horizon: Zero Dawn or Nier Automata today?

I turned on the stream, saw Randy Pitchford shilling some of his snake oil and said NOPE.

Hey guys I ended up with a PS4 this weekend, but I'm rather lost. I haven't owned a console since the original NES and the last system I even played on was 15 years ago that a roommate had (some system) where I played Twisted Metal (something) and some Chinese warrior game where you ran around killing hundreds of guys as you invaded some kingdom (yeah, not terribly helpful, I know, but both games I enjoyed). Anyway, the console I was given has the Uncharted games, and after spending 45 minutes on the first Uncharted game, I'm like, ug no thanks. You get dropped in a box with a puzzle, that you solve, to get dropped into another box with a puzzle, that you solve to get dropped into another box with a puzzle... I suppose I'll load up the other 2 at some point to check out, but zero interest at the moment. I just want to shoot shit and play with much less of a script, or a much much more open world (like an MMO-lite type game, I guess). Anyway, if anyone can point me to, well anything, that would help narrow my search through the 800+ PS4 games available that would be great. Short of that I guess I'll hit up youtube for random in-game videos or some shit. Put another way, beyond recognizing game names, I know shit about the console world.

GTA V...should be perfect for you.

I would also say Far Cry 3 but the load time are terrible on it. I rented it at Red Box and I died about four times and it took forever to respawn due to the load-times so I quit playing it.

So the short and broken Morpheus demo they showed looked like complete crap, as did they other games they showed with VR support. Pretty disappointing overall. If anyone is there and get to check it out post some thoughts because what I saw made it not whatever they will charge for it outside of free.

Load times are fine. Chrono Trigger was only bad because they ported a SNES game to PS1 and it dropped the spaghetti.

When you buy FF7 you get a Midgar Theme that plays Aerith's theme on the piano, so get ready to cry
