Was tempting until I remembered we're only missing Borderlands and GoT (well I guess minecraft too, but we don't care about that)every telltale game for $27.50.

Agree with everything said here, takes time to get acclimatized to console life.the DS4 is not friendlier to old farts than the xbox controller, its a bit smaller so i think it just depends on how big your hands are. Big hands = xbox, small hands = PS4.
I doubt you are experiencing arthritis or carpal tunnel with controllers, its just a familiarity thing. I was just like you, only did PC gaming from 1999-2012 (almost all MMOs) but did the switch to PS4 when it launched. The first six months my thumbs also hurt after an hour or two and I felt like a slow retard sometimes, especially when you compare reticule movement on controller to mouse. But you get used to it after a while, and now I can't really imagine going back to KBM over controller. Have played 5-8 hours on both PS4 and xbox one with no issues with the hands.
i'd say go for it, get a ps4 and pick up witcher 3 and bloodborne and the last of us and try it out. worst case your son will play it, best case you'll find you grow to love the ease of playing games on a console.
one thing i'd say, the xbox elite controller is pretty good and feels really comfy in the hands. PS4 doesn't really have an equivalent, yet.
Here's some pics for reference. My thumbs are only very slightly, very naturally bent in the controller pic. The handles are comfortably butted into the bowls of my palms. I have slightly larger than average hands (I'm 6'1, size 12 boot), and have never felt discomfort.I could use some advice.
The owners of the company I work for buy their employees a gift every Chrsitmas. They pick several different gifts, all between $300-$400 in value, and you get to pick which one you want.
This year one of the gifts is a PS4 with the Battlefront bundle. I'm not a big fan of consoles and have never owned one. I typically only play MMOs on PC. None of the other gifts are appealing to me so I'm considering the PS4. My son already has an Xbox One and when I have tried to play a game on it, my thumbs get extremely sore. I'm and old fart so guess it's arthritis. Is the PS4 controller more ergonomically easier on the hands? I have read the PS4 fully supports mouse and keyboard controls. Is that true for games like Witcher 3? I can't play Witcher 3 on my PC without upgrading my video card. If I could play Witcher 3 on PS4 with keyboard and mouse, that would save me the cost of upgrading my PC.
Lastly, is the Xbox One ever going to add keyboard and mouse support? My son already has a Xbox One and I would like the option to play some games with him but I can't because of the controller.
Thanks for any feedback
You can do it with this:I could use some advice.

Yeah but he has arthritis and is playing from a Nursing Home. Here's some pics for reference. My thumbs are only very slightly, very naturally bent in the controller pic. This statement is at least half correct.based on your index finger being shorter than your ring finger quaid, i can scientifically conclude that you have a long penis and that you are nice to women
